Replacing tires (wheels?)

When they do break in colder temps is it instant full on as if on ice, or is it gradual?
It's fairly instant but not as pronounced like breaking loose on ice is, and if you're paying attention and feel it breaking, recovery, or control if you like to play, is easier than on ice. Moderate correction will bring you back unless you've broke loose at too high a G, which I haven't experienced. But it still bumps the heart rate a bit when and if you're not expecting the a$$ to kick out on you. I would recommend finding an empty parking lot on a cold day to get a feel for when it does break and how controllable it is. Word of advice though; Don't experiment with it if you're wife is with you.

The book says +5 and up, is safe but it does mention that it can take lower. I do not recommend below +1 , that is for sure. Below +5 warm them up by rolling before hitting the highway. If the sun is out the asphalt will be warmer also. My Vette is in the garage for good , as soon as the first snow is predicted, anyway.

Yeah. I knew your original -7 was a bit optimistic.
