Too much trouble.... Just breast them, brown them, add cream of chicken soup, simmer until done cooking. makes a great topping for pasta.Pretty tasty in a stew ......
Mmmmmm. Flip them over , stand on the wings and pull on the feet . Quick and easy they say . I still prefer chicken. They don't taste like spruce , lo.
Actually here we harvest mostly Ruffed Grouse (white meat and taste just like chicken), but to be honest, I've never had a Spruce Grouse that tasted like spruce. Might be different up north.
Ya , they are actually pretty tasty. Although they do eat a lot of spruce needles especially in the winter. Some claim they can taste like spruce. I've never noticed it though. I think the population is coming back as there were quite a few more last winter than the one before. 11 year cycles I believe. Should be lots this year . Just about time to get the pitching wedge out again, lol.
For those that have a garden and grow peppers, these are Mariachi Chile peppers. I grow peppers and tomatoes in my greenhouse and this is the first year I have grown this variety of hot peppers. The Mariachis grow yellow to start and then turn red when they really turn up the heat. I was pleasantly surprised how well they are growing. This is one plant and I actually counted the peppers this morning. There are 32 peppers on this plant alone and they are huge compared to my Jalapenos. I've been harvesting and eating them as they turn red.

Speaking of peppers, these are my favorite ones called oranos . Sweet and delicious. They seldom make it out of the greenhouse. Eat them like a carrot.
This one didn't want to be eaten so it tried to escape , lol.
Nice. I haven't grown sweet peppers for a couple years.
