If they were lucky...........They had some of those at the original Woodstock LOL !!
You were smart not to eat them. Many of the red top fungi are very toxic. I pick and eat several types of mushroom but it took a lot of research to be positive that they were not poisonousThey look beautiful. Fresh . Soup !
I had a couple of these pop up along my driveway two years ago . And no , wasn't brave enough to eat them lol . Didn't want to go through the "Looking Glass"........View attachment 141677View attachment 141678
research and more research... I have a very good book that explains how to tell what they are...Google will help too. The parasols are easy. Not much else even looks like them and they have some specific tells for identification. Morels, shaggy mane and the parasols are among my favorites that i find. How did you decide they were edible?
We've got dozens of varieties of mushrooms in our yard, but would I even try to eat them?
That's why I wouldn't risk it not that I would eat Amanita Muscaria , a bit heavy duty from what I understand. These are the ones we picked every fall years ago on the East Coast. We had some growing in our backyard. They got the job done , lol.You were smart not to eat them. Many of the red top fungi are very toxic. After all the fires over the last while the Morels are popping like crazy here . We get lots of people from all over coming every year to pick . That many that bulk buyers even set up around the burn areas to buy from the pickers . Pretty good money involved. Those are beauties in the above pic .research and more research... They are Liberty Caps (psilocybe semilanceata). They are illegal in Canada but people pick them all the time. Dried, they fetch upwards of $500.00 for 100 grams. After all the fires over the last while the Morels are popping like crazy here . We get lots of people from all over coming every year to pick .
