Random Pictures You Took

Even during the warmer times of the year . There are outreach groups who patrol the city in vans keeping an eye out for them, providing drives to shelters, giving out warm clothing when available etc. This is a very caring compassionate society here for the most part . A fair number of nonprofits doing a variety of good works. Also some of the best seniors care and facilities in the Country.
My wife isn't a member of a group but she prepares reusable grocery bags with socks, mittens, toques, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, and other necessities. She has men's and woman's packed accordingly. Also in each bag is a Ziploc with a $20.00 bill in it. She doesn't go looking for homeless but always has these in her SUV for when she happens to stumble onto one. Not sure how much good it does but it makes her happy to do it.

Very nice . If only more were as caring . Not all of the unfortunate folks who are homeless and on the street are there by choice.

I wish you would. Hopefully you will get lots of spring snowfall. Weather here is more volatile than the stock market lately. Calling for-42 again Thursday night. And -24 Tuesday night. Solid sunshine though which is nice and lots of light period, gaining 6 minutes every day. Thank the gods .

We've had snow virtually every day since mid November. A day here or there of sun, with one brief week above zero. We don't get much of the cold that you do, but it's also been a much colder winter than normal.
Darn good thing they canceled the carbon tax , lol. Or we would be heading into yet another ice age....... ;) ....... at least you get to play with your tractor. Just be glad you're not in St John's. They just got another 140 cm over the last 6 days. Crazy .

We haven't had a winter like this for a few years. This is what it was like for most of the 80's . Thank the God's, Trump is bringing back coal ! At least it's sunny. Lots of frozen water lines with a several day wait time to have them thawed if they didn't split that is . I slept in this morning and when I got up and ran water to make coffee the water was coming out of the tap in a stream about the size of a pencil lead . Could have gone either way but thankfully after 3 or 4 minutes it came back to full flow. That's the most religious I've been in a very long time.....we have been consistently as much as 16 degrees below " normal " day and night. At least this massive high pressure system is keeping it sunny without a cloud to be seen.

Sounds like you have prostate issues! ;)
No thankfully. That was from the other tap.........not too surprised as by now there will be over 10 feet of frost in the ground. And somewhere around 7 feet of ice on the lakes . Yet there is so much heat in the sun now you can barely hold your hand against the window behind a partially closed blind which is facing the sun . Quite the contrast with the air temperature outside.

The cold weather isn't all glum.... the carvings are at our Snowking's annual winter festival which runs all of March weather permitting. These are 2 of more than a dozen. Carvers here from 7 different countries. And it's being more than cooperative this year ! The other is from the local paper. It's been cold enough every day this year to do this. Hard to capture a picture off by yourself though. Obviously. That's from a glass of hot water.....

Very Kewl....

1st Vette, your pictures and comments on the weather bring back lots of memories for me. Worked in exploration mining my whole life, first trips to NT in 76 and 77 during the summer , then back again for the diamond rush every year from 1993 untill 2008 exploration drilling . We would come mid March as soon as we had 12 hours of daylight for the choppers to fly untill breakup then back again first of July untill mid September. Awesome country, grizzly and wolves cruising by the rig , wolverines running across the ice, Musk Ox behind the camp, the cariboo migration the Northern light display almost every night. Lakes full of lake trout, rivers full of 4 to 5 lb speckled trout. Amazing country ! I am too old now to do the 60 day stints 14 hours days but I sure think about those times often. Even those crisp clear -40 days were pretty awesome. Enjoy your time there , you are lucky to be there.

With the winter you are describing this year the ice road must be in great shape !

Hi. Those who know appreciate just how incredible the North is in so many ways. I as well was lucky enough to see an awful lot of it one side to the other for almost 30 years . Worked as a contractor for many different exploration companies all year round except freeze up and break up , lol. Met lots of very interesting people from many different backgrounds from all over the world. Amazing experiences and lifetime memories. Nothing like flying over the Tundra in the fall at a couple hundred feet when the colors pop out and the ground looks like a Persian carpet . And if your lucky Cariboo as far as the eye can see as you mentioned. Incredible.
And yes , the ice roads are probably at at least 7 feet . This winter has been one of the coldest in years . More like what we had almost every year back during the 80's for example. But it's still nice to get a break to the tropics once In a while in the middle of it if your able to. I'll see if I can dig up some pics from those times when I get on my desktop.
