Random Pictures You Took

That second pic looks more like a pine grosbeak (see pic) We've had a flock of cedar waxwings(second pic) here for the last few days. They cleaned up the mountain as berries and are working on the huckleberries now...

Nice photos. I took the above 2 through the window with my phone. Makes me want to clean them today . Did the outside in the fall. The two pics I posted are Redpolls. Notice the markings on the wings.....

I will hesitantly concede ;)
You may well be correct. We have always thought they were Redpolls but I just did a search for Pine Grosbeak and found this although it does look like a Redpoll somewhat. The second pic is a Redpoll from the net .

Took this at 10:48 this morning. December 16/25 . Middle of the picture is where you would see the sun if that house wasn't in the way , lol. It will be above the horizon for exactly 5 hours today . Doesn't get far above the horizon this time of the year . If you are looking at it's peak height on flat ground from a distance about half of it would be visible above the roof of a single story house . But in another 10 days the days start to slowly get longer . Better pour another one.........

This was a couple of weeks ago.

Cool ! I see one just about every day as there are lots of them around here . They don't have much fear of people at all so they go pretty well wherever they want usually, unfortunately, looking for small pets that people sre stupid enough to let out to roam around. Lots don't come home. There is a den in the rocks about 60 feet up a bank behind my house that has been in use by them for many years.

There is a three legged Coyote running around here. I live in the freakin' city...
There is a guy lives somewhere in the neighborhood who comes by quite often walking his two dogs one of which only has 3 legs. Looks like a Shepard cross of some sort. Gets up the road just as well as the other dog of the same size. Looked out the window one day about this time of the year around dusk and saw what I thought at first was a big dog , maybe a husky cross but then realized the legs were too long . It was a wolf which was later verified by others who also saw it in the aera . We are surrounded by Boreal Forest after all and occasionally will get Bears in town . Saw a Wolverine in the Old Town one time years ago out an the ice of the big lake but those you seldom see unless you are very lucky.

We had a couple of days above 5C and the foot and a half of snow we got is almost gone. Back to the minus highs though and windy. The wind is what makes cold miserable. We haven't seen much of the sun all month. Snow squalls have a lot to do with that.

Another balmy -27 day but at least the sun is shining...

About the same here today but fairly humid by the feel of it . Fresh though and this time of year solid sun every day. And Sundogs going on there ! Nice. Saw half a dozen busses today full of mainly I suspect Japanese tourists here for the Northern Lights. Perfect conditions right now especially with the Solar Maximum happening.
