With the -40C temperatures we had this week in Saskatchewan, it got me wondering when the anti-freeze would no longer be good. The label says that a 50/50 solution is good till -37C and that a 70/30 mix is good for -64C. I don't drive the C5 in winter but it seems to make sense to maybe use a 60/40 solution out here (especially if the car is stored outside).

-40 mix is pretty safe, when not strong enough it will sorta jell/crystalize and shouldn't crack a block like plain water would do. 60/40 mix is 4sure strong enough for anything we have out here. Straight antifreeze with no water will freeze. I remember long ago the local hardware store brought a case into the store and it was frozen, but if mixed with water it was fine.
