how do you post pictures ? i'm being told the file is too big. do i still need to use photobucket ? please, no techno-speak, keep in mind i'm a knuckle dragging mouth breather. i use only the laptop.also, how do i find the smilies ?

For example your signature has a link to the page rather than the image, if I got to it, then click on the get embed codes button you'll see a whole selection of links.
Pick the BBCode one called
BBCode (message boards & forums) if you want to embed in a post like below. It's the one wrapped by img tags.
The direct link you can embed by clicking on the insert image button and pasting the below as the image URL.

OK, here's the skinny in step by step mode:
1. Insert an image from any image sharing site using the Insert Image button....
- Click on insert image icon above
- Copy/paste the URL/address that points to the actual image file. That's the one that ends with .jpg or .png so it'll by something like http://www.imgur.com/myimage.jpg
2. Insert image DIRECTLY from image sharing site...
- Go to your image sharing site like photobucket/imgur etc.
- copy/paste the embed code (sometimes called BBCode)
- the embed code looks something like this
[ IMG ]http://myimagesharingsite.com/myimage.jpg[ /IMG ] (without the spaces)
- copy that whole text including the image tags directly into your post and image should appear
3. Upload image from PC
- Click on upload file, select image, done
- Alternatively drag and drop image file directly into the window you're typing in (it'll say drag/drop image when you hover over it)

I'm with you Doug and we are not alone. If we all got together and walked down a gravel road, we would choke out half the planet with the dust that our dragging knuckles would stir up.i've got a good program with nero 9 that i might play with but it's probably easier for me to keep using photobucket.i'm with you don on facebook and all that other stuff. my old phone does'nt take pictures, only makes calls and the buttons are a decent size. don't know how to text and don't wanna learn either. hell, i don't even know the number on the cell, i've got it written down somewhere but i usually ask my wife. when someone asks for my facebook page it takes awhile before i quit laughin'.

In most cases I just go the pictures directory select the pic, right click and select copy, then go to the place where Im creating a message right clic again and paste and its attached. But that method doesn't work while creating a post.

Hi Ric, if you have the pictures, you don't have to right click and copy, just left click and hold, drag the photo into where you post the reply and it should load into the reply. The only further step is below where you type your reply, you'll have to select whether you want the image installed as a thumbnail or full image. Select your desired option and you should be good to go!
Partial luck. I got a pic to appear below the message window with buttons for Thumbnail and Full Size. Tried both and got full size and thumbnail pics in message window.
I then deleted them. I then tried to insert a different pic but nothing!
highlighted the pic in file folder and dragged it into the message box but it didn't load in. Tried upload a file button, selected pic file, clicked on open but nothing.
Don't know what I did to get it the first time but cant get it to work again.

Hey Ric, sorry you're having troubles. I've not seen any issues on the back end. Couple of obvious things to try, use a different browser (sometimes old browsers just won't work well at all), I recommend Firefox (Browse Freely) or Chrome (Chrome).
Uploading really large pics or pics that are corrupt can also be problematic. Make sure the pic is roughly less than 1920 pixels wide (the board will auto resize big pics but sometimes it hiccups).
