Oil Life Monitor

I believe the folks that designed the car know more than anyone. Some of the reasoning post here are ridiculous.

In all fairness and judging by the amount of TSB's and Recalls that are released after these "folks that designed the car" are finished, I would also give credit deserved to the experience and opinions of our membership.

Oh yeah. Welcome to the forum.

Run Mobil 5W-30 as per the manual.
Change it as close to storage as I can and if that is a couple of months away it gets changed out again. Don't see any reason to dump fairly new oil in the spring. It has what it has in it (acids etc) from the short run before storage.
Car is in warm basement so no moisture build up. It gets waxed over the winter. On my last coat now and then leather cream and Rejex. Cover it after that

Not that it is ever anticipated ... Why chance Warranty and Extended Warranty conflicts if you
can just change it especially within the "inclusive oil renew period" only by a dealership. Then
you have all your due diligence paperwork to support anything that might not be that great.
After which all the repairs would be "out-of-warranty coverages" ... and each doing whatever
turns one on ... just thinking out loud when it comes to GM maybe saying "sorry not covered
as this may be a result of inadequate oil renews" ... not that I've heard anyone specifically run into that.

The thread is 8 years old and Manny is a specialist with corvettes. His shop was a CCF vendor for years. So ya people listened to what he had to say.
The entire point of the forum is for folks to share information and experiences. So calling people’s opinions ridiculous is not really in line with the spirit of what we do here on CCF. Although you have every right to do so if you choose.
And welcome to the forum. I seemed to have missed your introduction post with the pictures of your Corvette.
If you haven’t done one yet. We would love to see it. 👍

Well said Derek.
We can all have different opinions on just about anything. Usually I will give more weight to someone who has been/is in the business. Doesn't mean I will follow it but I won't trash it either. Trash talking is OK on some other forums but we really do not need it here.
Yeah, where are the pics.

There's infinite oil info here:
www.bobistheoilguy.com
If you want to get the real info on lubricants, this site of Bob's has it. Me, any more, I just go with GM's recommendations. I started storing my musclecars in the fall of 1972. Fresh manufacturer recommended oil and Delco filters last thing in the fall and good to go in the spring. I have never had an engine failure in a few hundred thousand miles of driving. The oils did the job back then. The L72 car saw 6500 rpm so many times that I would not even hazard a guess, 7200 on a couple of occasions, so life was not always easy. If the oils of the day back then worked then, if the oils of today are so much better as claimed, then we should have nothing to worry about.

I only put about 2500 kms a year on my 07.
I personally change oil in the spring and the fall. I figure what's $ 120. or so in the spring and fall.
As opposed to a motor rebuild. Perhaps a little extreme.....but for me well worth it.
Don't forget the desicant tub inside your car as well. You can pick those up at your local marine or RV dealer.
Helps absorb moisture in the interior when you have temperature swings like we are having right now.

I've always changed mine right before storing it for the winter, thinking it was good for the startup come spring. But I'll rethink that next winter. You learn something new everyday.......

It is stored in a heated garage Vegas1500, maybe I'll just drain it twice, fall & spring and, do like some of the other guys do, & put it in my Silverado....
