I was antsy from too much time in the house and having a sore back from doing yard work for the past 10 days, so I took the Vette out for a spin this morning. It's the treatment that seems to cure everything!
We moved to the Kingsville area two years ago and have been exploring since. I drove through Leamington and Wheatley, ending up in Erieau. Along the way, I snapped a few pics of the various oil wells operating in the area.
Oil was discovered in Southwestern Ontario in 1857, and the area became the birthplace of the entire world's oil industry. There are still many wells operating in Ontario and contributes to the fact that Canada is the world's fifth largest oil and natural gas producer, along with the natural gas pipelines that are under the surface of Lake Erie. Some wells can be seen along the 401, just to the west of the Rodney exit, west of London.
The wells pictured here are located in Leamington, and to the east of Wheatley, along the Talbot Trail toward Blenheim, along the north coast of Lake Erie.
Enjoy!
