Question OIL FILTER - 2007 C6 - 6 Liter

Tomorrow going to do an oil change on my new to me Corvette.

Wondering what the best oil filter is to use on there?

I’m normally a “Wix” guy. Thanks in advance!

Wix are fine. I've switched to synthetic media filters lately. They trap smaller micron particles better than the conventional filter mediums, but who knows... ..

Fram Ultra Synthetic and keep changing oil at 5000k or less.(I prefer less). Fram lost a good rep a few years back but this is a good filter with good specs. I expect there may be more than one reply to this thread.

I can appreciate lifting up a classic and seeing an OEM oil filter Michael but I gotta admit, I don't use GM Dexos oil in my Vette either.

Flamesuit on. I would have no problem using a Fram Ultra Synthetic since it is as good as any premium filter in construction and internal components. I wouldn't even use any of the cheaper filters that Fram makes on an old beater. Other than that no car manufacturer makes their own filters even though they might have been branded as such.

....your choice guys , but to me it is like having a $ 5000 horse and put on a $ 5 saddle . I'd at least paint the filter body color or something to hide that name.

.......never used them or seen comments on Champion. I've always used GM ac delco filters on GM vehicles. Baldwin and Fleetguard are good brands also that I use on industrial stuff.

Wix, Mobil M1, OEM all work well. Can't comment on Fram's premium line, we've all heard stories about their econo line.

Here is a look inside the premium line Fram Ultra Filter. I'm not a Fram fanboy and wouldn't use one of their economy filters but have no qualms about using these.

I have used 5W-30 Mobil oil and changed from GM to Mobil 1 filters. Been on those since 2010 and just under 158,000 km's

I have stuck with the good Mobil 1 synthetic oil and Delco filters. Changing oil often is probably the most important favour you can do for your engine. That gets rid of anything that the filter isn't getting. Wix seems to have the best reputation based on filters being cut open for inspection. Youtube videos are available. The PartSource has the oil on for under $32 a jug. And no, I am not affiliated with PartSource.
