I like seeing people think outside of the box. My only worry would be snow/mud etc getting between the ribs and throwing the balance way off. It would be nice to not worry about flats though.

They may just bolt the tire to the rim, or fix it somehow as it doesn't matter if there are holes in the wheels. Actually, I bet you could put holes in the barrel of the rim and make those things wicked light.
