Hello I am new to this Forum and new to the Corvette Experience. I moved on over from MB world and bought myself a 1996 C4 coupe from New York and imported it. First head scratcher was when I took it in for the E test. VIN showed there was no OBD. However, the tech found there was a connection under the steering column and did a pre check to see if it was ready. Then the actual test was done through the tail pipes using 2700 rpm standing. Passed no problems.
My question: Is there a difference between the Canadian and U.S C4s which creates the conflicting information emission test procedure. This was a

I"m likely not even in the top 80% of people qualified to answer this question, but my thoughts (for what they're worth) is that there is no difference between Canadian and US C4s.

Welcome to the forum! There are people here that could answer this question for you, and C4 owners are seemingly coming in droves. Send some pics!

Cheers,

Environmental Registry

The amendments prescribe new On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) emissions test standards and emissions testing equipment for 1998 and newer light duty vehicles, and prescribe two-speed idle (TSI) tailpipe test standards and emissions testing equipment for 1988 through 1997 model year vehicles.

Not sure if there is a difference between CDN and US version of the vehicle but any vehicle between 1988-1997 uses the tail pipe test regardless of whether it has an ODB2 ecu or not. Hope that helps, you can visit the link for more details

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Riley P, in answer to your question, I had a 1987 560 SEC, 1995 E320 Cabriolet and a 2000 Sl 500 (another cabby). Refined cars but also great nickle and dimers. All my friends who lived in the West Rouge area had Vettes and hence my switch to the Corvette Experience.

I do a weekly Thursday evening meet at Yorkdale Mall around 9-10pm and then a brief cruise downtown, weather permitting, if you can come out. Going on 7 years now.

Usually get between 10-20 cars, with quite a few C4's, C5's and C6's, not to mention a couple of C3's, C2's and one drop dead gorgeous C1. On the really warm nights, we can get upwards of 40 cars. Doesn't happen too often but it has happened.

Not to mention other cruises that occur during the driving season. You can check out my FB page at:

Lots of pics from members and cruises are posted there. Just scroll down the wall.

Welcome to the Corvette club.

Head to revelstoke BC in end of February or beginning of March, get on a snowmobile and you will witness some great snowy wonders!

Hi Zeeman28a.

When you mentioned Yorkdale, I couldn't help but remember fondly the weekly impromptu meeting of muscle cars at the Harvey's at Jane & Falstaff "Home of the Hot Ones". I would frequent Harveys on a Saturday night in my '71 LT1 where the muscles would flex and show and then head off to Weston Rd. by the 400 Drive-In for some street drags. Yeah, I am that old.

Congrats on doing something similar with Corvettes.

We used to have the old style A&W here in The Hill back in the 70's. I remember the Friday nights driving up with my dad, parking at the order machine and having them bring it to us on trays. But Friday nights was the busy night with the muscle car crowd.

American Graffiti is one of my favorite movies and I try to emulate some of the what when on in the '50's. I wish drive-ins were still around. I usually tell people that I was either born 20 years too early ('67) or 20 years too late.

Hey that gives me an idea for another cruise. There are drive-ins still around, just in out of the way places. I'll have to find a couple and see what I can put together.

Stan.
