New C8, what are the "must dos"?

Note to self. Don't move to NWT if you like to drive your Vette as much as you can. Go west. 😄
It's the latest spring I can remember. Still some snow on the ground but its sunny every day and the roads are clear . Just put road insurance on it today. On the road tomorrow !

lol.... I'm on a Vancouver VPN and get little weather updates bottom left of my screen all the time for Van.. They go like this...
Rain, rain, rain, rain starting in one hour, rain, rain, rain.....rain ending for an hour in August....
No thanks. Alberta has the most sunshine in Canada...I'll take it.

Drive in the Rain, rain, rain, rain 😉

I guess if it was my daily driver but it's not. I take the Vette out to enjoy both it and the nice weather. Have 3 other vehicles to drive in the rain and snow.
Lol. We have the same problems. Personal truck, work truck, Jeep….or Vette (formerly Hellcat).

And for our resident chit disturber, Jackoon…. I could roll a Massey tractor or a Can Am quad too….haha

You might as well consider an Arc as opposed to a Condo if moving there . Especially given over inflated housing costs. And here we always thought we had more sunshine than anywhere. Then I realized that's only most of the time when it's not dark............... ;)

Actually none of the above. The farm vehicles stay on the farm and the only ones buying a Prius are environmentalist tree huggers in Ontario...
Until they stop giving everyone else's tax dollars to people in the upper tax brackets....... oh , wait what that's right, some things never change.

Well with a few errand runs I’m at 675 km today. Going to visit a buddy who has a hot rod shop tomorrow and he’s 110 km away. So in theory I will be able to finally let ‘er loose at some point on the way home. Lol
Funny that my Hellcat had no such restrictions…

I understand that in the US, you can get a hard copy of the owners manual if you request one from GM concierge in the first six months of ownership. I don’t know why it should be any different in Canada….so worth a try!!

There is a link on the attached page to the 2026 C8 manual in PDF format. Ignore that it says site maintenance and just click on it . This is from GM . You can download it for free .

Well I rolled ‘er past the break-in. First turn I took on way home I clicked into Z and romped on it! Pretty good fun I must say. Not as brutal as my Hellcat, but probably just as quick to 200 km/hr.
Tried the launch when I was almost home. I have to say I haven’t giggled like that in a car for a long time!
Bug cleaning time now…and a beer or 3.

I think GM doesn't recommend hitting it hard until 2400 km if I remember correctly. Just saying. And I know, it's really hard to resist, lol . From the manual...
Follow these recommended guidelines
during the first 2 414 km (1,500 mi) of driving
this vehicle. Parts have a break-in period and
performance will be better in the long run.
During the first 800 km (500 mi), engine
torque will be limited in low gears.
To remove the engine torque limitation after
the initial 500-mile break-in period, turn the
vehicle off, and open and close the driver
door. Ensure all doors are closed for
15 minutes.
For the first 322 km (200 mi):
. To break in new tires, drive at moderate
speeds and avoid hard cornering.
. New brake linings also need a break-in
period. Avoid making hard stops. This is
recommended every time brake linings
are replaced.
For the first 800 km (500 mi):
. Avoid full throttle starts and abrupt stops.
. Do not exceed 4000 rpm.
. Avoid driving at any one constant speed,
fast or slow, including the use of cruise control.
Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the
vehicle when the engine speed will
exceed 4000 rpm.
. Do not let the engine labor. Never lug the
engine. This rule applies at all times, not
just during the break-in period.
For the first 2 414 km (1,500 mi):
. Do not participate in track events, sport
driving schools, or similar activities.
. Check engine oil with every refueling and
add if necessary. Oil and fuel
consumption may be higher than normal

Yeah, I’m not going to baby it another 1600km. Not going to track it but I’ve owned enough new vehicles in my life to know that the proper break-in is to drive it like you’re going to drive it. I always get water and oil temps up before pushing it. Best way to have a low power oil burner is to baby the motor for a long period of time.

And the manual seems to be incorrect on the 500 mile thing. I rolled past 806km, the tach changed from 4500 redline to 6500 redline. I never shut the car off, and when I was close to home I tried the launch control…seemed to do the thing. No shutting car off, closing doors and waiting. Lol.
In any case, I’m not going to beat on the car relentlessly now, but I will engage in the occasional giggle blast.
