More media coming out of Germany.

Here's some good footage with an unofficial 7:30 time taken by a spectator I believe.

Damn sweet.... Thanks Nik.... for the post... and for the reminder that most of us out here are still in cold storage.... grrrr... soon.... soon!

I wonder if they ditched the magnetic shocks for the dssv spool valve shocks like the 1LE Camaro. I can't wait to see this car in the flesh........ but just thinking out loud with how the ZL1 Camaro has the Corvette Z06 engine, I wonder if Chev is going to stuff the ZR1 engine in the Z28? I know, I know this is a Corvette thread but it's just exciting to see what Chev is doing as a whole.

Chev has really upped their game with the Camaro in the last couple of years. Especially this year.
Kind of makes me wonder if this is to replace the plush performance level of the C7 Corvette after the out of reach priced C8 pushes the C7 to the annals of history.
I love camaros but the thought of being pushed into one to achieve the level of performance we are used to in the C7 as the only option over the C8 makes me gag a bit.
Wonder if any of you have anything to say in this little conspiracy theory.

Agreed but that wasn't my point ☝️

Guess I missed something Derek..... My point was, in my opinion (for what that's worth) the Camaro cannot "achieve the level of performance we are use to in the C7"... power possibly, but performance is not only power.... performance to me is the way I feel when I walk up to my Corvette and know this ride is mine.., the way the seat grabs me when I get in and spin into the drive position.... the smile that comes to my face as I'm pushing the start button and know I am about to drive a true sports car.... the way the car....just feels....,the way the car just...makes me feel,... the way people look at the car...the thumbs up at almost every traffic light.... the way the camaro and mustang drivers rev the hell out of their engines when they see a Corvette.... the way the car just......feels... (I know.... I already said that)........ There's a lot more but that was my point.... I didn't want a pony car... I wanted the performance of a sports car.... I wanted something the camaro doesn't stand a chance of achieving... at least not for me... :Cheers2:

Tell us what you really think Eric! :D

It's an interesting theory to think that they're bringing up the performance of the Camaro so it can 'replace' the Corvette or give people an option for something with performance at an 'affordable' price. However, I think Eric summed up it quite thoroughly that even if the Camaro ZL1 can rip along side the Corvette, it won't produce the same feeling people get in a Corvette, who want a Corvette. And I'm sure the same goes the other way. I love the Camaro but it is a hammer, whereas the Corvette is a scalpel. You could use either tool to see inside an orange, they just both get you there a little differently. Very simply put, Camaro = pony car. Corvette = sportscar.
This doesn't mean the Camaro is bad, it's just simply the history of it. A different design for a different automotive segment.

I doubt that GM is increasing the performance of the Camaro in hopes that it'll replace the Corvette. A couple reasons are. Look at the competition. Last time I looked, the Mustang outsold the Camaro. GM isn't thinking that second place is great! They want to be number one in that segment and they'll only get there if they keep improving the car.
Secondly, still looking at the direct competition. There is the amazing GT350, a 707 hp Challenger, 840 hp Demon, and rest assured a GT500 in the near future. Camaro is simply keeping up with what others are offering in the class.
Lastly, the beauty of the Corvette is that it is a performance car that competes with the best in the world and it is actually affordable to working class people. I'm sure this concept was not lost on Zora Duntov. I'm sure he'd hate the idea that his dream car is so out of reach that no one can afford the Corvette anymore and the people who could have gotten one, are forced to look elsewhere.
So that is my take on the situation. The mid engine Corvette most likely will cost more than most can afford but I don't think they'll leave us hanging.

FWIW, I tend to agree with ddgermann. I think GM is going with the F**D business model. The Camaro is going to be pushed to a perceived performance level comparable to that of a Corvette so that it can compete with the M*****G. The Corvette will move more upmarket and expensive which will shatter the dream of a untold numbers of people. The Camaro is an awesome car but likely Riley said, it is not a finesse machine. IT will be a very sad day indeed if this comes to pass.

Exactly what I tried to say Riley.... Except you were more refined...you used a scalpel....lol....

I fully appreciate and agree with the classification and differences in both perception and handling performance of the Corvette vs the Camaro.
I fully admit I do not take the Camaro seriously as that car is totally boned going into the first corner against any Corvette. Horsepower be damned. I've owned and driven brand new Camaros and was always in envious awe whenever I saw a Corvette which at the time was an unreachable dream for me. Owning and driving any Corvette let alone a new Corvette like I have now has a feeling that no other car in my price range can come close to matching. Truly my dream car.
So I get the so eloquently put scalpel vs sledgehammer differences. It's just natural suspicion of the "good intentions" of GM that raised this thought.
So although very true Camaros are up against stuff compitition in its "class" and fighting to stay competitive there... the improvements have been substantially moving toward the driveline, suspension and aerodynamic considerations of the Corvette.
I'm also highly impressed with the passion you guys have for Corvette and the debate that ensued.
Sorry if the thread seems somewhat highjacked... but damn this is fun.
