I'm currently taking a quick look through the owner's manual that was just released and would like to make note of a few things I find interesting.

First, from Page 287:

Transmission Fluid Change
When the CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID SOON message displays, change the fluid and filter within the next 1000km (600mi). Failure to change the transmission fluid at required intervals can lead to reduced transmission performance. The transmission fluid must be changed at least every three years and the Fluid Life System must be reset. Your dealer has trained service technicians who will change the fluid and reset the system. If the system is ever reset accidentally, the fluid must be changed at 72,000km (45,000mi) since the last fluid change.

Relevance: When GM employees of dealerships went to the special test day, there was a big hoo-wah about how the transmission oil change interval was 12,000 km. I didn't think that would be true by any stretch of the imagination. Good to see it was fake news.

Page 290:

The initial transmission canister filter change must be performed at 12000km (7,500mi), and every 36000km (22,500mi) thereafter. This service can be complex. See your dealer.

Interesting there is a special filter for the transmission fluid that has a more frequent interval for changing.

Interesting.... I see they have left easy access ports for oil changes anyway... Could be worse.... Could be a Bugatti Veyron. Oil change you say...... $21,000 .......hard to believe.....

It's $21,000 because there is only person in the entire world who is trained and qualified to do the work. When they call him for the job, they need to convince him to leave his hot tub with 5 models in UAE, fly him in a private jet to the dealership where the work is done and it takes him a week to complete it. (Not serious).

Also, luxury car tax. An oil change in a Porsche is, what, $800? A BMW is $1,200 or something insane?

It won't be cheap for the C8 when the time comes, but that's not because of dealer rates, but because it uses a lot of very expensive oil.

Are the first 2 years/48 000 km not free like in 2019 under your standard basic warranty

Standard Stingray received 4 complimentary complete oil/filter/lube changes
Z51 cars received 5 free

Yup only two free oil changes on the C8. Not 4 like last year. If you take their GM Visa credit card they toss in 2 more free oil changes. GM is getting stingy.

Really.
Oil changes are generally so easy.
Quick Jacks are helpful.
Is there a shop manual out yet?

I'm still wondering how they will add oil to the hardtop convertible when you cant see the motor from the top? Are they going to pump it uphill from under the motor??

This is correct. Oil changes are now only 2 total over 2 years/24,000 km, unless you get the GM Scotiabank Visa Card, in which case you get 4 over 2 years/48,000km. You do not need to use the car for anything else. This is the same across the board for all 2020 vehicles, not just the Corvette.

It would be worth getting the card because an oil change for a C7 is somewhere in the $130 range.

Heard the oil changes might be pretty pricey, might be worth getting the credit card.
Was thinking of getting one. Not using it and cancel it after the freebies. LOL. There might be a yearly fee for it though. I forget if someone here said there was but surely wouldn't be as much as an oil change. No idea what an oil change would cost on this beast. When I had my 911 Porsche several years ago it was around 6 to 7 hundred bucks.

The dry sump is accessible with the cover over the engine installed since is it mounted away from the engine. No need to remove anything to access it.

Is the GM Scotiabank Visa Card free with no yearly charge? If so, it's a no-brainer.

There's one available with no annual fee. There are also several programs throughout the year where you get a discount on non-free oil changes and $150 off a set of tires.

Any benefit when paying for GM dealership goods & services with the $79 Infinite version of the GM Visa card versus the no annual fee one?

JMO ... food for thought ...

1. In regard to inclusive oil changes when purchasing a new GM vehicle ... I do not consider the oil changes as "free" ... but rather "included" in my price.
I see the use of "free" as perhaps a marketing-type thing to give one a feeling that something is being "thrown in" ... but it is actually "included" in as a result of a purchase.
Regardless of paying MSRP or getting a $20,000 discount on the purchase ... the oil change/renewals are still included.
Precedence being that I have grown to learn that when referring to or getting sold something ... for nothing ... is normally a "red flag".

2. Scotia GM Visa Card ... just get the "no fee" card ... No Brainer. That's what I have from it's start in 2015.
I have benefited from over $12k in Scotia GM $$$ on top of GM incentives and purchase price negotiating (so far)
and I already have another $750 for the next purchase.
Please note the Scotia GM Visa is not the TD GM Visa and this Scotia Visa has very few limitations.

I agree with you. Nothing in the world is "free".

GM uses the term "complimentary" with the oil changes. So yeah, they are included with the vehicle you're purchasing.

So I should take this card offer?
