Reading posts with people getting their TPW and I'm just here waiting for allocation updates, oh well...

For those of us still waiting, wondering how many people have put themselves on multiple waiting lists ? Seeing as most dealers I've talked to have rather large lists, I'm wondering if these numbers are slightly inflated if alot of people have gone with the multiple list route.

Well 25% drop off rate is a bit encouraging then, I'll take that, haha.

@Murry20c8, did you end up doing multiple deposits or just stuck with 1 dealer?
i have 5 deposit and still no car, go with a big dealer it will be less time to have your car, i should have go with Spencer last year for the C8, because when we speak last spring if i say yes i will be 19 on the list, i said no because i already given 5 deposit i should take one deposit and give it to Spencer, because they receive 20 allocation for 2021 so far, i have learn the hard way so for the Z06 im with Spencer no more small dealer

I made 2 deposits with dealers that sounded promising. Comes down to sales volume, allocation, and how long their list is.

As soon as I got the call from one of them saying it was time to submit the order, I refunded the other deposit no questions asked.

Wilson Niblett wanted $5K and their list was long in comparison. I instead made one deposit for $2500 at Brian Cullen and another for $1500 at Mills. Everything worked out in the end.

I am #1 at my dealer and have an option to use one from a friend, who made two deposits (different dealers) and he has his car from one of those two already.
It depends on getting my deposit back from the original dealer in order to accept the secondary slot from my friend. In the end, both avenues will lead to a very similar timeframe. I am in no hurry; too much snow.

Yes, very normal and common everywhere in Canada and USA. For cars that are in short supply.

The catch is you have to put down multiple deposits.
But they are refundable (confirm that with your dealers) as long as you cancel all the others once you get the first build allocation.

Many people do 2 or 3 just to spread the risk. It is prudent. And as such, there is a significant drop-off on those lists, so you move up quicker and quicker as your turn approaches.

Do you guys know if some dealers will move you faster in the list by giving them extra cash? Did some dealers propose you to give extra cash and get it faster?

Personally I hope not since it would be unfair for the other's on the list. I am patiently waiting on one list and hoping the dealers are fair with us. But since they know how we feel about the C8, some dealers could take advantages...

This generally does not happen and is looked down upon in the industry.

Yes, if a dealer really wants to reshuffle things before the order is submit to the manufacturer, it's possible, but I don't think it's common.

A friend of mine who works for Mercedes told me about an AMG specialist who got fired for messing around with the G Wagon list after accepting a $20k bribe. Like the C8, the G Wagon demand exceeds supply capabilities and market value is holding much higher than MSRP.

Yea I was wondering if some people would attempt to juice the dealers as well, hopefully that's not happening. And I assume if someone if willing to pay extra $$$ to their dealer, they would just buy a used one for a premium and get the vehicle now.

One of the dealers I spoke to also mentioned that a number of their waitlist orders were for the Z06, so that also was artificially bumping up their list size since that won't be available for a couple of years still... Hopefully some positive news from Spencer's for their next allocation, fingers crossed

My local dealer has a very long list still: must put $5K down - they are trying discourage multiple waitlistings. Won't accept extra $$ to move up the line - was great to hear. Z06 - long wait list as well - so, unless near the top, could be a very long wait for either car. Dealers are selling/listing used - eg. 2020 C8 for high prices ($134K) - a few I notice in Ont. - Culllen Chevy being one - no budge on price - said they bought from another dealer at a premium? I am afraid if you listed now for a 2021, you probably are looking at a 2022 car - ordering it a year or more from now?

Easy logistics fix. Two different vehicles... So dealer has two wait lists. Get them to contact @Murray20c8. Pretty sure he would design them a spreadsheet...
