Mods on my 70th have begun

Literally the day after delivery new wheels. Then this past weekend lowered it fully and had it ceramic coated.

Just waiting on the Sigala Z06 wing to arrive. I'll have my stock in the box High Wing for sale once it arrives...

Aren't you worried about hitting the front end with it lowered? I forgot I had the front lift and hit the bottom leaving the Hotel Vancouver. Nothing serious but it sure sounded awful. Couldn't wait to check when I got home.

I've never had an issue where I live.

OP don't let anyone deter you from modding your 70th.. Went through this a couple years ago with my '19 Bullitt mustang.. guys screaming blasphemy to anyone that made a change. In the end it doesn't make a difference, very few are "collecting" modern cars; those that do and want a 70th in their fleet will buy a new one.
As for resale, just about nobody cares anymore. If your upgrades are tasteful and done right you will attract a buyer that sees the value in them and it'll sell before a stock one does. Don't expect to get the value of those mods back tho.
The buyers that care about originality and "numbers matching" are aging quickly becoming few and far between.

Like some on here, I am not a stranger to lowering my vehicles, previous ones mostly had Eibach springs to get a 1" drop, and my last project, the family VW Atlas, has coilovers with a 3.5" drop (and much larger rims). My rule of thumb is simple, the gap between the top of the tire and underside of the wheel well should be no more than 2 fingers, using the 2nd and 3rd fingers, inserted straight into the gap (not up at an angle). That should yield about a 2" space, maybe 1.75" for some of you with smaller fingers. With a 1.75" to 2" gap that should allow for enough spring compression to get you out of a bind for bumps or if you need to load up some more than average weight in the car. For my truck my coilovers have a compression of about 400lbs per inch which means I can trailer about 4000 lbs, have it drop an inch, and still have some safety space left above the tire.

When I went to visit Ciocca in the US, I immediately did the 2 finger test, and I was shocked to find out that the stock ride height was already quite low, my 2 fingers fit nicely on top of the tire without too much space above it. So many posts with people claiming that the C8 sits high like an SUV or monster truck, but I did not find that to be the case in person (based on my 2 finger test).

However, I do like that slammed look with very little wheel well gap, which is why my mind is spinning trying to decide between collars (front lift) and a coilover drop in back, and keep it simple, or go with Eibach springs for a solid 1" drop but likely stiffer ride. In speaking with a couple of you who have done springs in the past, the feedback was don't do it Neil, you will not enjoy the ride, teeth will rattle, even with MRC. My eyes will probably prefer the look of the drop springs, but my body (and my wife) will likely appreciate the delicate drop yet comfort of the collar/coilover drop setup.

@CamsC8 not sure if you saw this video, but here is another Sigala Z07 wing out in the wild, and while he does not do any pulling or pushing on the wing, nor driving it at high speed down the highway, it does look pretty good when just sitting there. Watching this video will make many want that wing for those who want to feel they have a Z06 but will never own one. I guess you are still contemplating what to do with it. Like I said, might be worth checking out the likes of AGM, and I did forget to mention one important thing, I have also been in touch with ACS who did confirm to me that they have been working on a Z07 wing as well, just not sure when it will be released. My guess is companies like ACS and AGM will have something a little more solid for the mount and structural integrity towards the ends.

The more I see of that wing the less I like it, It suits the Z06 with the wider bodywork but the stingray less so. also the narrow span between mounting posts looks off and there will need to be significant changes to make it solid.
If the opportunity arises to open the car up would you be comfortable with that thing at 300kmh+? not me.

I like the OEM one that you have. Does not work for me - getting golf clubs in and out of the back, too heavy to manipulate over the higher wing. Besides I am an old fart!! I drive my C8 everywhere in the spring/summer and put things in the trunk. Having siad that I am toying with the idea - drive SUV to golf course?????

+1

Same thing with the C7. The stage 2 and 3 spoilers look very odd on the Stingray and doesn't work with the narrow body.
