The last couple of years have been frustrating with the old C4. It all started with it running terribly, following through the on board diagnostics, replacing
fuel filter, air filter, TPS, MAF, IAC, ICM, spark plugs and wires and serpentine belt and battery. At wits end I took it to a shop and they could not replicate the problems.
It continue to idle erratically, but at least it was running. Then this year it decided that it would randomly stall. No warning no hesitation , just an unpredictable
immediate dead engine. It would restart as soon as I let the clutch out or hit the key and continue to run ok. So before giving up I did a google A.I. search. After several queries A.I. narrowed it down to either bad injectors or Ignition control module (ICM). It even provided detailed info on how to test. Injectors are OK, so I swapped out the replaced ICM, with the original that was in the car. Happy happy joy joy it ran great....... until it stalled again. Ordered an AC Delco original ICM from Rock Auto, installed it and all is well. Lesson learned when possible go with new original GM AC Delco parts. It will cost extra ( ICM's listed in Rock auto varied from $11 to $78) for the AC part. To my door it was $100. Regardless it works and I once more can smile.
