Manny doesn't need to come out west (for me) as my car is going east!

Garry, your story is both amazing and entertaining, never stop posting, you are living the good life!

just make sure it contains lots of photos :)

Good morning xlr8r,

But really excited now to get the car on its' way to Manny and now hoping that I can come up with more $ for additional work while it is there. That darn Manny put the bug of methanol in my brain and now it is something I'm thinking about too.

Garry

How about a CAM, or maybe start personalizing YOUR 'Vette--rims, ruber, maybe some paint, interior goodies, LED lights, race-mersh grille, etc etc. The list is enldess really.

Good luck!

Good evening Gentlemen,

A long day, much shopping. Some bargins. I bought a bunch of 1/18 scale diecast cars on Kijiji during harvest for my son for $60 and was only able to pick them up today. I'll give them to my son when he does good in his school work.

It ended up being 27 cars in two tubs, a bunch of individual display cases for the cars. Some are not all that interesting, a '55 BMW, two T-birds, a '64 Mustang vert, a number of exotics, two Vipers but actually 5 Corvettes! A '53, '57, '63, '69 and a '92 ZR1. Some of them have seen play but then again for the price what the heck. You can't argue with $3 a car and my son should be very happy.

Yes Manny, I may have to go with the methanol. Lucky I have time to try to find more $.

Manny, I looked at the trailer today in GP. It has 4 d-rings on the floor to fasten the car but where the heck to I run the straps on the car?????? For some odd reason Z06's don't have front and rear tow hooks like other cars, odd this.

Oddly I'm not really too excited by rims. A camshaft maybe but I'm not sure yet that I want to go with internals yet. The interior painted on a few pieces I am very interested in as the interior is very dark but otherwise it might be more fun to let people think it is stock, outside of that expected wonderful whine I am hoping it will produce.

I have to be honest, if I get into the mid 650 wrhp with methanol I'll be happy. I'm not wanting to be one of those 1000 hp guys. I'm not sure if I'd ever want the engine to be taken out and have work done in that area. I just want the best outcome from external add-ons and that is going to suit me fine. But I'd still like to be able to stare down any of the stock ZR1's, Vipers (new and old), any exoitics I'd find north of Edmonton and Calgary and that will be satsifactory for me. Oh ya, and of course that 710 ZR1 in Dawson Creek............

Thanks everyone for your kind comments for the non-Corvette ramblings of mine. They say that the best therapy is confession and as well if it makes others realize that the challenges they are facting in their lives are maybe a bit less serious than they were thinking beforehand, then I am so happy to have shared this part of my life as well.

I have a bit of a further amusing story about the toy cars but I'm sort of tired and as well now have to go and pick up and hide these 27 cars from my "Dora the Explorer" son!!!!

Cheers,

Garry

Garry , you can strap your vette down throught the lower control arms , both front and rear .

Hummm cam you say

Good morning,

Your Northern Alberta weather update. Nothing good in the future. We're paying now for the September of 10 to 15 above normal with an ongoing stretch of 10 to 15 below normal.

I suffered the luck and timing as well that while I am able to receive emails I am unable to send them so just to let you know Manny that I have received your emails with the transportation information. Of course this email problem also coincided with when I received the proof docs from my lawyer and so I now need to try to contact her by phone to see what happens next - it is to sign a cohabitation agreement and so needs to go to my gf's lawyer for the "independent legal advice" and oh ya there is another story behind this one.

However, as I digress once again, I am hoping to be able to set up the signing of the papers with my lawyer maybe this Tuesday. There is no snow called for on those days yet. I also have to see if the enclosed trailer is available.

So Monday I would take my son to school, go to GP to get the trailer, drive to the garage and load the car and then make the trip to Edmonton. If there are no problems with strapping it down (it is a pretty low car after all) then I should not have any difficulty in getting there Monday night sometime. Then I hope drop the car off Tuesday morning, taking pictures aplenty, sign papers, return to GP, drop off the trailer and with luck be back home Tuesday night.

But of course we all know how the bast made plans can go.............! But I have to start somewhere.

So get the lawyer then trailer coordinated and I should be rolling.

Cheers,

Garry

Just set the parking brake, leave the car in gear and you'll be fine!:D

Does sending Manny Private Messages work? That may be one way around the email not working. Looking forward to the pictures!

That works :D

Oh Riley, just set the park brake and let it go!

I'll try to get some of the trip down too.

Manny, would it also be possible to run the straps through the stock, original rims, they should not interfer with the brakes? I might be able to have the straps lower that way and not run into problems with them possibly applying pressure on the underside of the splitter when I tighten them that way. Any reason why this might be a bad idea? I'm just not sure how easy it will be for me to reach under the car yet.

Cheers,

Garry

Straps though the wheels may work but I would be concerned about the tie rods (front and rear) and steering taking a lot of loading....although they handle a ton of loading when you drive..... but straps can exert a lot of force and pull things out of alignment?

What about strapping by hooking into the holes in the jacking locations in a X pattern?

Good afternoon Riley,

Sheesh more snow again today.

GF has arranged to go over agreement with her lawyer on Wendesday, I should be seeing on Tuesday. So if there are no glitches there I need to see about getting the trailer Monday/Tuesday.

You do bring up a point but I am not sure if the degree to which the straps are going to be tightened is going to be that significant. As well the d-rings are not located tot he sides as much as they are forward and backward.

It may not prove to be an issue, but these cars are so low to the ground and it just leaves me with the impression that it will be more difficult to reach the control arms - it may be easier than I am imagining in my mind.

The jacking points, are these loops or just little indents like on my SER? If these were actually holes then this might be a possibility.

I'm going to call and see if the trailer is free next week and if it has been booked any dates yet.............

Cheers,

Garry

Garry , so the plan is to have it in transit next week , am I correct ?

Good morning Manny,

Tentatively this is the way it is looking. GF goes to her lawyer tomorrow so if there are no hitches there I conform with my lawyer in Edmonton for Tuesday morning and I looked into the trailer yesterday and it is free so far all next week so as soon as gf signs then I confirm my other two stops and then with you. The weather is looking not too bad for Monday, -1/-6 and I can live with that. Winter will have been around for a week or so so the highway people usually emerge from their slumber and have the roads in good shape so I am optimistic.

Would a Monday night or Tuesday morning delivery work any better for the rail guys I wonder? Monday will be the longer day as I have to take my son to school for say 8:30, putting me in GP around 10, getting the trailer and back to the car and get it loaded, assuming no problems and on the road to Edmonton by 12, arriving in Edmonton by 6 which will stillbe daylight but perhaps too late to drop the car off so maybe Tuesday morning might be better??

And of course something may cause all of this to change so I'll have to be flexible.

But this could be a likely way it might unfold.

Still no repaired email yet..........

Cheers,

Garry

Good morning Garry , I belive in the info I sent you , that it says 8am to 4:30pm for drop off . So I would say that a morning drop off would be best .

Thx
Manny

Good morning Manny,

That is what I will start to factor in. I'm sort of excited to finally get this going and I hope that nothing will happen to post-pone it.

Cheers,

Garry

As a cherry on top , we could say . I will be sending you a direct link to our shop cameras . This will allow you to see your car and whats going on at the shop in real time . You can click on, anytime day or night :D

Not many shops would do that :canada:

Good morning Manny,

Now that is one of the coolest things I have ever heard of - real time viewing of DeSilva Motorsports! My son is going to get a kick out of this!!!

Out of curiosity, "DeSilva Racing" from Ontario is not connected to you in any way?

Cheers,

Garry

Dasilva Racing is owned by Joe Dasilva , and there is no realation just share the same last time . Thety work on Mustangs and have like myself with corvette's built a name in the Mustang world .

hey garry, my son used the control arms on his "01 to strap his car down, but had to turn the wheel full lock to get better access for the straps. then once they were in place he would straighten the wheel. he also strapped the back end around the rear diff too.. enjoy the mods when its finished.

Good morning,

More snow, but I'm getting used to it being here now for 5 months with no letup. Thus is winter in northern Alberta!

I wasn't sure Manny, I thought it might be a misguided brother or cousin or something like that, odd that you'd both be into providing quality enhancements of cars though.

Bigneez, thanks for the info. I thought that I might have to turn the wheels but that access would be easier than with the rear area. Thus why I am still thinking about running the straps through the rims if that is possible. Very easy access to be sure, I don't think they have any sharp edges so that would be a good way to go. Also thinking about what Riley said regarding strapping them right to left and vice-versa for reduced sideways movement. I know when they tow things like tanks they do it that was to reduce swaying.

This is really giving me something to look forward to. The supercharger whine I'm especially looking forward to experiencing. And honestly I'm going to be making a trip to GP to call out a certain Mustang that has just over 600 rwhp and is a slightly under 11 sec car to see if I could take his crown................

I'm sure that the trip home will be an interesting one given that we used to travel it pretty well every summer when we came to see my grandmother and were living in either Montreal or Thunder Bay. I really and looking forward to seeing the area I lived in at Thunder Bay, it is a demon that I have been wanting to exercise from my system for some time but flights from this area to Thunder Bay can not be done in less than 24 hours - many, long stopovers. So driving through on the way back will get this done for me.

Cheers,

Garry
