I have a '94 Impala SS style LT1 sitting on a stand waiting for a home some day. I have an opportunity to pick up a set of 643 aluminum heads. Would there be much to be gained other than weight savings? I understand that these heads flow a little better than some of the others. I'd do a cam upgrade at the same time.
A friend put an LT1 in his '66 Impala along with headers and the lt4 Cam. Off the street the car ran mid 13s at Cayuga. Pretty decent for a big car. I don't mind spending a few dollars if there is a benefit but there is no point in wasting it. After about 11K miles of driving the Corvette this summer, you will definitely not see anything else under the hood. I love that LS2 engine. It pulls like the big block cars that we have had. We're more than happy with the car the way it is. The LT1 is just something to play with and it will eventually find a home in something. Dale has suggested putting it in our '87 S-10 short box truck. Stranger things have happened.
