The Langley Cruise-In is a huge event....1400+ Cars... 100,000+ spectators...
Lot's of displays, live bands, food vendors.. This is the only show in Canada that IN And OUT BURGER comes to with all their proceeds to the show charity.
Lots of fun and it is right in my town. They close down the streets and all the local stores participate for the day...
Lot's of monies to various local charities. This show takes a year to organize with a large volunteer effort and businesses and politicians assisting.
The show is on the Saturday...but Friday nite is car mecca for cruising in Langley. The streets are packed with cars in the downtown core. Timmies, A&W, House Of Tools, etc. A major police presence keeps most things under control. In years past there was an organized Friday nite cruise to the local drive-in theater. It still happens but not officially part of the show. The drive-in always schedules 'car' movies for that nite....Vanishing Point, Bullet, Corvette Summer, Two Lane Blacktop, American Graffiti, etc...
Friday nite is straight out of cruising in the early sixties. Spectators line the streets 2-3 deep watching the CARS cruise by.
Sunday is swap meet day and few smaller events.
Very cool show...
Langley is a community just outside of Vancouver..Langley is said to have the highest hot-rod per-capita in Canada.

PS. Colin: if you're looking for something to do next weekend come on out, I can guarantee you will find another nice car to drive home!!!
LOL

Our '69 L78 300 Deluxe SS396 Chevelle went to Langley last year. Rick is talking about taking both of these cars to the Langley show. The '55 ran mid tens the first time out this year with the new big block setup.
