iPhone CarPlay connections issues (?)

Ok, I figured this out after 3000 iterations trying just about everything. (18.4.1 BTW, but I also upgraded to the latest beta 18.5 Beta 3 , but exact same issue)

First, go to Settings > System > "Return to Factory Settings"

Then "Erase Settings and Personal Data" (caveat, this does EXACTLY what it says ;) )

Remove the car from CarPlay on your phone ("Chevrolet" in my case)

Then I re-setup all my personal settings (add KeyFob back, set seats again, logged into my account with my same email and ran through all the settings to make sure things are where I like them.)

Touch "CarPlay" on the screen, open CarPlay on your iPhone and reconnect Wirelessly ...

Back in action, all working as it should.

I'm having the same issue. '22 C8 and iPhone X, CarPlay work as easily as shifting Gears. New iPhone 16 iOS 18.4.1 won't connect. Wife gets into car with her iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 17.6.1 connects. Have tried several times to connect but no luck, even with deleting the phone from CarPlay. Am going to try changing the device name to see if that works.
Let us know the iOS versions you have.

Cheers, John
Found this…..
iOS 18 has caused various CarPlay issues for many users, especially with iPhone models like the iPhone 13, 14, 15, and 16 series. Common problems include the iPhone not being recognized by CarPlay, glitches in display or audio, intermittent disconnections, and lagging interfaces.
Common fixes for iOS 18 CarPlay issues:
• Reset Network Settings: This has resolved the problem immediately for some users.
• Restart both iPhone and car infotainment system: Power cycling can clear temporary glitches.
• Forget and reconnect CarPlay: Remove your car from CarPlay settings and set it up again.
• Ensure Siri is enabled: CarPlay won’t launch if Siri is disabled.
• Check USB cables and connections: For wired CarPlay, faulty cables can cause issues.
• Update iOS and car firmware: Apple regularly releases patches; also check for updates for your car’s infotainment system.
• Disable Face ID lock for apps: Some users found this setting interferes with CarPlay visibility.
If issues persist after trying these steps, contacting Apple Support or your car manufacturer is recommended for further diagnostics.
In summary, resetting network settings and keeping both iOS and car firmware updated are among the most effective solutions for iOS 18 CarPlay problems.
