Interesting mod

Tell you what, someone with a Z51 take your car up to 188km in 4th gear, shift to 5th and report your findings here..

Everyone stop worrying about the gear ratio and non vs z51. The point is that the car doesn't pull hard in 5th. Throw an anchor out, pull chute, drag a colony of Raccoons behind you, the car stops pulling. Jesus I might go on vacation again....

Gear ratio has a ton to do with it, but you being a raccoon wouldn't know that.

I was.just passing along my real world experience, you people are making it about something else. The last time you hit that speed you ended up on your lid in a ditch. I can see how @DW Ruby gets frustrated with this group lol...

You should talk! LOL. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
I can neither confirm or deny that I have done speeds in excess of 200 KM/h
Many of us have real world experience and done many things.

Ok, so how does car feel in 5th gear at speed. Do you feel the incredible acceleration or are you disappointed in the lack of pull...

I'm happy with my car and I didn't say it was me in my C8. I also wasn't referring to a particular top speed. All I said was gearing matters. Any car hits a wall eventually. Whether it's the air it has to split or runs out of gears. Every increase in speed requires slightly more power. Plus it's logarithmic.

It is logarithmic... for the C7 M7, as well. 5th gear will take you to my C7's top speed of just under 300kph. 6th and 7th are purely gas saving gears once you get there. 4th takes me to about 244kph and 5th finishes me off....errrrrr... theoretically I mean... ;) .... I never use 7th gear. At legal hwy speeds, 6th gear gives me amazing fuel mileage and I still have acceleration as needed for typical driving. If I need to get up and go in a real hurry, 3rd is an easy shift from 6th and will take me from 110kph to 170kph in a blink of an eye.

@Jack Raccoon! 's observation is correct, as I have experienced the same. There is nothing wrong with the gear ratios of the C8 as both C8, every other corvette and any vehicle with an internal combustion engine with a transmission will experiance decreased acceleration in higher gears.

take peak C8 stingray TQ of 465ft lb X by 1st gear ratio (2.91) X rear end ratio (5.71) = 7,727 ft lb of TQ to the wheels - drivetrain loss
take peak C8 stingray TQ of 465ft lb X by 3rd gear ratio (1.22) X rear end ratio (5.71) = 3,239 ft lb of TQ to the wheels - drivetrain loss
take peak C8 stingray TQ of 465ft lb X by 5th gear ratio (0.65) X rear end ratio (5.71) = 1,726 ft lb of TQ to the wheels - drivetrain loss
take peak C8 stingray TQ of 465ft lb X by 8th gear ratio (0.33) X rear end ratio (5.71) = 876 ft lb of TQ to the wheels - drivetrain loss

This is clearly a person who buys cars as an appliance and somehow they randomly ended up in a Vette store... Or taking the "drive it into the ground" religion to unhealthy heights.

Wondering if I'm the only one who has NFI who you are talking about...... :bathitshead:
I believe it's redtigers opinion that the Corvette should be revered and not treated as a utilitarian vehicle. An opinion not shared by me. If there is one thing that the C8 is short on it's luggage space. I'd get a trailer for mine if I could.

Possibly, but that doesn't address my confusion on the person he refers to.........
