I have a farm...in farm country... With permission on over 12000 acres of prime moose habitat, I don't need to trespass...
This is not Newfoundland Don. Prairie farmland that's either cropped or livestock pasture with waterbodies and moderate patches of bush. Farmers here hate the moose because they are continuously breaking fences so are more than happy to let me hunt them. So happy that they help me load the moose on my truck (usually with their tractor...lol...We field dress where it's harvested, then back to my hunting and fishing partners shop where we skin it out. And yes. We hang it whole until we cut it up if possible. He is a retired butcher and has his shop set up with all the goodies. It's cold enough here right now that we will let it hang and butcher it next Monday. We butcher for a lot of hunters out here. Last year we did just over 100 animals. Mostly wild game (moose, elk and deer) and also do beef and pigs for some area farmers. The farmers where we harvest animals each year always get a nice gift package of roasts, steaks and burger. Been a long time since I've had to pay store price for meat.
My apologies. Wasn't suggesting you were but it is the second favourite thing for city hunters to do. The first is getting lost. Which leads to the second.
