Was thinking on mounting a 10'' Kenlowe Fan in the engine bay, below the 3 slit so called air vent.
I always have to raise the engine hatch and put a fan directed into the side scoop to cool the engine down after a HWY drive.
What do you guys think??

Is this a common problem with the HTC? Can’t say I’ve heard anyone complain of this yet. And boy oh boy do we ever hear about anything and everything bad and good about the car!
No, this is not even a real issue unless the car is broken. There is absolutely no need for this.

you always have to? what makes you think your car is overheating? what does your temp gauge tell you?

heat is completely normal byproduct of combustion process.

There are already 2 big thermostatically controlled fans behind the side scoops that come on when needed to blow air through the engine compartment and out the rear and top vents. Nothing more is needed. IF those fans aren't coming on even after a spirited drive in hot weather, then you need to visit a dealer and let them figure out why.

I am curious, though, what makes you think the existing cooling isn't adequate and you need to use extra fans. What are the symptoms?

We are still in the learning years on a 2 year old car and we already have issues like delaminated dash, delaminated headliners due to excessive heat, overheated trunk, delaminated paint finish due to excessive sunlight, HTC mechanical issues, and the list goes on. I'm not bashing the C8 but in my books, prevention is better than a cure.
Whatever cooling fan GM installed in the scoop to cool the engine compartment is not enough. It's not normal for an engine and it's plastic / rubber fittings to excessively bake in an almost sealed enclosement. The heat that radiates out from the 3 slit so called vent can cook your hand if you leave it there long enough.
I already installed Heatshield's product 176001 Armor on my cats and all exposed exhaust pipes to reduce the heat buildup in the confined engine compartment. Adding the Kenlowe fan would just be an addition to battling this excessive radiating heat. I'm wondering if I should blow the cool air in OR have the Kenlowe suck the heat out. Just a precaution...

We have none of those issues in our almost 3 year old car. There's a lemon in every car model occasionally. Sorry to hear you got one!

Did I offend you MASTER Murray, you speak for everyone ?
Sorry if you can't handle the truth and facts that I presented to the forum about a lack of airflow to cool a V8 engine when shut down.
I guess there is a lemon in every group...

What? LOL. You are the first one that's had ANY of these issues. Wow. Aren't we the nasty one. I was trying to be supportive of you.
Man!

Ditto. My car is 2 years old with 30,000 KM and has had none of those issues either. Do the fans in the air inlets ever come on? If those aren't working I could see having overheating issues. When the HTC was released, GM said it was easier to control temps in the smaller space because it was easier to control air flow. I haven't heard anyone else report the kinds of heat related problems you describe. Not in the Canadian forum, or the much, much larger US forums. Rather than applying band aids, you should get your car to a dealer to determine what is really the problem.

Excessive sunlight? Just LOL. There are cars that live outside in Arizona with no paint issues. The cars at the Ron Fellows school live outside in Nevada and the paint is fine.

The dash issue is, unfortunately, an issue. Not frequent, but you're not alone in that one.

But you speak for everyone? Sorry that you can't understand that what you're experiencing is not normal. You should have had a professional evaluate it a long time ago. Murray's experience is normal. Yours is not.

Based on this post, it is my professional opinion as a Master that there is nothing wrong with the cooling of your car.

Murray has a coupe like me- Murray’s only experience with equipment failure was when his roof shot off the car and unexpectedly made it a convertible 😂😂

Master Denis and Master Murray- I like it! Make me feel like I’m back in the dojo!

What I haven't heard is the OP detailing what temps he is seeing. Are the temps higher than normal? Or are the fans just doing the job they are expected to do and that is to help cool hot radiators after the engine has shut down.
OP is failing to understand how a cooling system work and what temps are normal under normal or heavy duty use due to him not being a Master

I, however, do have an HTC. 30,000km with no overheating problems, ever. That includes stop and go traffic coming back from the beach in 35 degree (C) temps with the A/C on full blast. These cars don't overheat unless something is broken.

There are actually two separate pairs of fans. One behind each radiator in front, and one behind each side scoop to force air through the engine compartment. I wonder if that second pair isn't working in the OP's car. But yes, it would be helpful if the OP actually posted some data, instead of histrionics.
