New owner of a 2017 Z06 purchased over the holidays. Waiting for the snow to melt and temps to rise....impatiently!

Thanks Nik. I'm going to keep my eye out for threads on meets and cruises in the GTA and surrounding area. I'm new to Corvette's and hoping to get to know the community a bit better over the summer. Lots to learn about the car.

Welcome to CCF. Glad to have you here.

So...... where’s the pictures? :Cryin:
This group needs details and photos. Tell us about your journey to Corvette.

Congratulations on your new Z06. Lots of fun ahead for you.

Lupo, welcome to the forum.

Pics would be great. Lots going on in the GTA area, move posted as the warm weather returns.

Welcome to the forum Lupo. Here's your first recommendation for a nice two day cruise with a few others from your area. The forum is having an first time "Meet in the Middle" of Canada event in Winnipeg this July for Corvette owners Canada wide. Lots going on thanks to our CCF member organizer and the Manitoba Corvette club. Here's a couple links to the info....

Cruise - Lets Meet in the Middle East!

Should have known better than to say hello without pics...cheers! First pic was standard dealer shot, second is in the showroom (with my SOLD sign on the dash)!

Hi Derek,
So my journey to Corvette comes after 9 years in two Mustangs-- a 2012 GT, followed by a 2013 Boss 302 which was hard to part with but it was time to move on. This is my first Corvette and I bought the car over the holidays with the discounts on the 17's making it tough to pass on. It's a 3LZ A8 with Z07 package. I was not after a Z07 optioned car, but I was buying lot inventory so it was take it or leave it. I liked the look of the car and the carbon brakes are hopefully something I will be happy with for street use (for a long time). Definite overkill, but oh well.

The car is in storage, so I have not even been able to drive it or start it for that matter.

I was torn over the A8 as I really enjoy stick, but wanted a different experience with this car and something my wife could occasionally drive. I wont miss traffic on the DVP. I'll miss ripping gears on open roads..

The Boss 302 was a great driver's car and very raw, and could get squirrely occasionally but nothing like the Z06 in terms of bite from all I've read and seen.
In full transparency, I'll be a bit nervous about the Z06 and cautious until I figure out how she behaves.

Any tips from forum members are fully appreciated!

Gorgeous ride lupo... I have 2 km of gravel to get to my farm so black wasn't an option.... but i love the colour... even if it will be a bit of a back breaker to keep that pristine shine.... You will love the Corvette....

Hot damn that looks good! Very nice pick and glad you were able to make it over from the Mustang world. :D
Welcome! I hope you really enjoy yourself here and the A8 leaves you happy as well and not wishing for a stick. I’m sure after a few drives, you’ll love the A8 and be totally happy with the choice.

Welcome lupo and congrats on the Z06, awesome car. It's going to be a long wait for spring, but will be well worth it.

Hi Lupo,

Well it seems you have very good taste in cars. Congratulations your 3LZ Z07 Z06 is gorgeous! (ok i'm biased)

Mine is below

Other than a few bits of carbon fiber and the M7 vs A8 transmission we have sister cars. Yes black is a tiny bit more challenging to keep up but so worth it. :D

You car is exactly where it needs to be now as it would be pretty squirrely to drive at the moment with those SC2 tires. (I replaced mine with PSS before I drove it home last summer)

We have a member on here driving and enjoying the hell out his C7 Z06 right now as he put winter tires on it and says it does great in the snow. Some great pictures he put on a thread running on it here someplace. Not in my radar to do that but good for him. At least he is enjoying his Z06 all year.

You are no stranger to high performance cars so I won't bore you with novice cliches here. This is a very fast car you just bought and the best things you can do in my opinion is:
1) know the water and temperature limitations of the tires.
2) learn and use the active handling management as we need it on this car. It is normally very subtle and you can't tell it's doing its job for the most part. You suspect it but is intervening when you think there should be a bit more under the right foot but its not obvious. I encourage you to take it all off and try your pedal in a big safe place so you have an understanding of just how much it actually is doing for you routinely. It becomes very obvious just how much it actually does. The number 1 butt saver in Corvettes. There is so many modes to the AHM system that it seems like overkill in complication but after a few months of playing with it you will appreciate the flexibility as it can be set for any type of driving weather and driver skill level. It's a very good system.
3) relax and wait for the tach to release the car to you at about 1000km. The redline will shift up to 6500 automatically as your driving along once the car is happy with the initial breakin.
4) Have a great time.

Derek--nice car! They could be twins!
Thanks for the advice--you raised some excellent points. I had Pirelli's on the Boss and they turned into pucks under 10C, and by all accounts the SC2's are far worse. I have been contemplating buying the PSS and getting them swapped before I drive her home. I have them on my Audi and have been very happy with them and imagine they would be even better on the Corvette.

The active handling settings seem to be numerous. What setting do you typically cruise around the city in? I'll definitely be seeking out (wide) open space to experiment.

Hi Marcello, Yes you know exactly what to expect from the SC2s. The changing of the tires is a decision that started with the possibility of cracking them in fall morning cruises then moved to the poor cold and or wet road performance. On dry warm roads the SC2s are better than the PSS. How much better? Who knows as I am not tracking my car or testng these limits on the street. The PSS tires are very sticky and a but more forgiving in the rain is all I know. I have my factory new set of SC2s sitting to put on later if I want.

With the active handling knob settings; for the eazy days In town I am usually in sport. On the highway somewhere between track tour and eco and on a bad day; weather mode. I haven't messed around with the competitive driving settings much but they are well calibrated to keep feeding you more and more of the car depending on your skills on wet or dry tracks. Lots of videos with guys demonstrating these modeson tracks.

The removal of all the nannies is a couple quick button pushes away and would be pretty hair raising if you wanted to push the car at all.

I'm heading to Spring Mountain in the spring so I expect to get a chance to try some of these modes out on the track. Everyone I know who has gone can't say enough good about the course. You have a deal waiting for you after buying your car. The deal is valid for 1 year.

Enjoy!

Derek

For those with invitations to Spring Mountain, when/how did you receive those invites? My dealer did not mention this. Does it come directly from GM?
