I had an old next door neighbour who flew the Halifax then the Lancasters during the war. My wife's uncle was a tail gunner on one. Their plane got shot up over Germany and ended up belly landing in the North Sea before getting back to England. All but the top gunner got out and they were rescued by a German merchant ship. It was near the end of the war and they weren't in captivity for very long fortunately. There's nothing like an air show but unfortunately we are tied up that weekend.
