2000 C5 Coupe
New to the Forum but I have been hanging around for a while. I bought a nice 2000 C5 a few years ago....I'm semi retired and wanted to spend some leisure time "tinkering". Well after a short time there was no "tinkering " left....the car was bone stock, low mileage. I got the itch again and last year picked up a 71 convertible. It was a driveable basket case. (No seriously)..I wanted a project and I got one. So far, the motor /transmission has been done. Most of the suspension has been blasted and painted. I am just getting ready to lift the body and do the frame so I can start putting the suspension back on. As others here have said....sometimes it's tough to stay at it when you are so far from the end, but...little projects within the big project makes things easier. I'm looking forward to sharing my experience.
 
Pictures???? I have about 7000 so far.... A few to show my progress.... and.....the pictures don't do it justice....mice had been living in it for who knows how long....the smell was something else!

Welcome to the forum. Quite the project you have undertaken. You have my respect for your efforts to bring your Corvette back to its glory days.

Damn those mice can make a mess.

When I got in to my project and started tearing it down I found just a little rust...in all the wrong places. I still wanted to clean up as much as I could via sandblasting. After one visit to a local sandblaster I quickly realized this was going to get expensive...too expensive. A check on Kijiji for a cabinet wasn't that fruitful...I wanted one large enough to do a Crossmember or rad support. So I scrounged around a bit, a gun I bought on line, and some assistance from my wife (Finance Department) sewing gloves I put together my blast cabinet...all said about $70....
I have done a fair bit now, using crushed glass....cheap and have gone through three bags.

One thing I should add is my small 5 gallon Compressor died just as I finished my cabinet....so I had to now shop for a compressor....I love shopping for tools! Great deal off Kijiji on a 4 month old 60 gallon Upright. I added a second tank to increase the air capacity as well, I added an Auto a/c Condenser to assist with cooling and helping to remove moisture....

One of my first jobs was to blast my rad support...didn't look too bad...I was so wrong......

enviously looking forward to seeing more ... as I took the easy way out and just bought my ray, new at the "store"
