Grand Sport ... Spotted

Each Corvette model has a dedicated performance package, but the Grand Sport actually has two performance package options available depending on your driving style and what those plans may be.

  • The Z52 Sport Performance Package comes tuned around a stiffer suspension and is optioned with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tire and the high-performance J56 iron brakes from the Corvette Z06.
  • The Z52 Track Performance Package offers Brembo’s carbon-ceramic J57 brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and track-focused chassis tuning. The Z52 Track Pack is paired with a carbon-fiber splitter, dive planes, rockers, and Z06-style high wing, plus underbody strakes, making it the most track-capable Grand Sport to date.
The Grand Sport X is rated at 721 combined horsepower. It’s getting the front-axle electric motor and compact battery pack from the Corvette ZR1X which is rated at 186-hp and it provides near-instant access to 145 lb-ft of torque on the front axle. Standard features include Magnetic Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport All–Season 4 tires. There is also an optional Performance Package that adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Also like the ZR1X, the Grand Sport X gets new features that were not available on the E-Ray. It allows drivers to choose how they want to use that available power. Those features include:

  • Endurance Mode with the Charge+ button for extended track lapping and consistent eAWD output.
  • Qualifying Mode offers the Optimum power strategy for the ultimate lap time.
  • Push-to-Pass Mode which provides the maximum available power on-demand.
Of course, the Grand Sport X offers two electric-only propulsion modes that utilizes the electric-only front axle. Stealth Mode allows you travel up to 50 mph and it’s perfect for those quiet neighborhood exits while Shuttle Mode is limited to just 23 mph and it’s the perfect way to move your car around on electric power only without engaging the V8.
Excellent post Scott ;)

Couple of Questions ? .....
Would the carbon brakes be available as a stand alone option ?

Does this new engine have Active Fuel Management ?

Most importantly .... When do the order books open up :Hurray:

Jack,
Don't let the 'stealth mode' thing hold you back.
I've used mine 4 times:
Once to make sure it works.
Twice getting out of the garage while my Wife was sleeping in the next room.
Once sneaking up on a group of Z06 owners at a car show, but they had already lost their hearing, so that one doesn't really count.

Yes, for those wanting the Z52 Sport Package but also want to add the J57 brakes they will be available to order and we will see that once the order guide comes out in April.
I had read that Active Fuel Management will be on the LS6 engine, again that will be confirmed with the ordering guide.
I expect Canadian dealers will have the order guide in April BEFORE the pricing, and our dealers should get allocation in
mid April or early May for Grand Sports.

More Pics taken at Sebring ...... ;) Just stunning

Just like the C7 GS ..... I think this will be the best C8 in the line up IMHO

Is it true that many Canadian insurance companies don’t want to insure vehicles with 500hp or more?

6.2L just just under that cutoff at 495hp
Long answer. AI search. Looks like it depends. And when you get the quote you just might need them......... ;)

Yes, many Canadian insurers will cover cars with over 500 hp, though mainstream companies often impose limits around 500-580 hp and refer owners to specialty brokers. High-performance vehicles like Porsches, Ferraris, and Corvettes exceeding this threshold can still be insured through brokers specializing in luxury, exotic, or modified cars.
Mainstream Insurer Limits
Several providers, especially in Ontario, have strict horsepower caps.
Economical Mutual and Sonnet enforce a 580 hp limit, cancelling policies above it.
RBC Aviva and others cap at 500 hp, refusing collision coverage beyond that.
These rules stem from higher perceived risks, but they apply mainly to standard private passenger policies.
Specialty Insurance Options
Brokers handle high-hp vehicles without blanket refusals.
Lant Insurance Brokers covers modified cars up to 100 hp over stock and partners with Hagerty for higher-power classics.
Hagerty Canada insures modified and performance vehicles, including those with significant power increases, for collectors.
Providers like Acera, BrokerLink, and Excalibur offer luxury/performance policies for brands like Porsche (e.g., Panamera Turbo S over 600 hp) and BMW M8.
Provincial Variations and Costs
No federal hp bans exist, but provinces like Ontario emphasize disclosure for mods. Premiums rise sharply—e.g., $4,500–$6,200/year for 500+ hp exotics vs. $1,500–$2,000 for standard cars. Shop brokers, disclose mods, and expect higher limits (e.g., $1M+ liability). In BC, similar specialty options apply given your location.

The number is 580hp, anything under should be fine. I have to find a new provider every few years for my C7 Z06 because of this. Every year insurance companies change their underwriting and may decide not to insure cars specifically with 580+ hp and a gas engine. My current company 3 years ago would not renew with me and two years later they would take it again. They just told me two weeks ago they once again won't insure it so I once again have to insurance shop.

I have a notice from my insurance specifically saying that 580+ hp is an issue for them for ICE cars specifically. They said SUVs, trucks and EVs don't count. I'm sure two years from now they will change their underwriters again and reinsure it, its just annoying.

Guys, even though I have asked Adam at National Corvette Museum when he is bringing NCM Museum insurance to Canada for all sports car
(which they still haven't got a provider for) I do have someone that will insurer Corvettes right through the ZR1.

Mike from Brink of Speed .... mentioned that the spokes are in the shape of C8 Gen Cross Flags

They are beautiful .... and will prob be an additional expense option ;)
paying for the option is one thing as long you have the quality, many of us can rememberthe C7 wide body cup wheels.

But would anyone notice at 194 MPH ? ;) To be honest the only time I really notice mine are when I'm washing the car .
