Front Bumper repair.

So I decided to get a estimate to paint the underside of my front bumper where the previous owner had used the
“ touch and stop” parking method and scraped up the bumper. Repairing it is not high on the list because it is normally not that visible. Went to a good body shop in my area and they quoted $1500.00 to remove the bumper cover, paint it and reinstall. Is it me or is that unreasonable. Anyone else had this sort of repair done and how does the cost compare?

Seems a bit of a “Corvette” price to me. I just had a complete back hatch door repainted in metallic on my daughters car this week. Cost me $500 all in at Carstars. My dealership set it up and had it done. I just dropped the car off with them. 4 days and done. Perfect job.
So... maybe if you have a Carstars out there you may want to check it out. Some (not all) bodyshops will just triple the price when they hear “Corvette”.
Keep looking IMHO.

Did you find this pricing consistent with 3 competitive quotations?
The parts-off is what I like depending on whether a directional metallic match to adjacent panels is needed.
(unexpectedly, I've discovered this an issue on the repainting of a dismantled Corvette diecast)
If you did get competitive pricing … it is what it is … and sadly regardless of being a Corvette or not.
Although I know that this will not be your option ...
I do know that Claims Adjusters get exceptional Corvette repainting & parts pricing
however can have added anxiety with the effort toward repairs (never been the case so far though)
and I also know one may most often end up getting exactly what you pay for (or don't pay for) away from a DIY.
If the damage really bothers you though, it pretty much has value with the fix to your "Corvette Grin" too

Good quality bodywork is expensive. Yes there may be a bit of a Corvette tax but I would rather pay it and get top quality befitting the caliber of the car.
