Financing

We found the Corvette to be a nice balance. ;) Just staying away from mortgages and hugely depreciating new cars has allowed us to enjoy life without sweating the bills. Being do-it-yourselfers, we built much of our house, garage and barn cutting those costs in half. You really don't have to be a cheap skate to come out ahead and you really don't have to do without along the way. It's all in what you do with your money, do without some extravagant stuff in the early years and not be afraid of a getting dirty and sweating a little. Worked for us.

Thanks for the advice guys. I hear what you're saying about paying off the mortgage first, but I literally just started paying the thing lol. I'm not patient enough to be waiting 15-20 years to enjoy myself. I always hear older people saying they wish they enjoyed their youth more. This is me enjoying my youth. Plus kids are still a minimum of 6 years away for me so I'm not too concerned about that. Obviously yes it is smarter to have no debt, but I won't be making the kind of money I am now forever and so I am going to enjoy it while I can.

As for all those higher interest rates you guys used to have, damn. That must've sucked. I think of anything over 6% as highway robbery haha.[/QUOTE

What rate did you manage to get on your mortgage?

I'm excited. I met a new hook-up in GM at the Calgary Auto Show today. She's going to check on my order for me and see what she can do to get it accepted.

Wait a minute... did you "hook up" with someone from GM and now they are your inside source of info :D If so, that's truly taking the ordering process to the next level...
