I could be wrong again but to the best of my knowledge when you purchase it doesn't change the expiration date just the longer you wait the more expensive it gets. Perhaps @Mr.Corvette will chime in and clarify that as several others have asked.

Just a little slow getting to this as we have a big ball game going on now. A transmission fluid change is going to be around the $1200 range. Don is suggesting to wait on buying the maintenance plan because the transmission fluid change isn't due until the third anniversary of the car, and if you wait until just before you can get two transmission fluid changes done (the second one at the 6th anniversary of the cars in service date) under the plan. The clock starts on the maintenance plan when you buy it, and for the first 2-3 years you can get your free services done, as your second DCT isn't due until 36,000 km. Brake fluid and coolant changes are due after 5 years which are also covered as are yearly oil changes.
The strategy is wait until you use up your free services and buy the maintenance plan as close to the third anniversary of the car as possible to stretch your maintenance plan coverages out . There are various terms and km's that are available, but the 4 year 60K one prices out very well and will save owners a bunch of money after year 3. They do get more expensive with time due to price increases, but so does the car and the price of the regular maintenance. If you wait, you pay a bit more at the front end to save the cost of the second transmission fluid change at the other end and an extra oil change.
