Driving in the fall - wheel spin

As a member here with only 345hp, I enjoy when the temperatures drop and the tires lose some traction as I get to pretend and imagine what it's like having a high hp Vette like the rest of you guys. :D
Actually, I enjoy that I can be a hack with my car and just mash the throttle and know it won't do anything crazy. If I ever up the hp, I'll actually need to learn how to drive.

Kids and streets actually scare the crap out of me. You can tell who has kids when people drive down a residential street as parents drive slower knowing kids are around, teenagers drive 50% over the speed limit because they don't realize anyone exists except themselves. :p

You make me laugh Riley.... In my youth I had a 72 Plymouth Cuda for a while and a 71 Duster for a while.... Stock 340 - 4 barrel, 4 speeds, both of them... sweet working engines that got up and went and embarrassed many a big block back then.... and that with factory spec 275 hp..... I would have given my left walnut to have 345 ponies.... and yes... I could have bought another 70 hp but back then the Speed Shop slogan was (and still is),

Speed Costs Money Son. Just How Fast Do you Wanna Go!

It's been about two months since I got my Vette. It is a bone stock, 2010, C6 and I love it. Like most here, it is not my daily driver but I managed to get about 1,000 km on the car thus far. We have had great weather in Toronto, but looks like winter is finally coming.

I have noticed that I can get the back wheels to break away and spin in first and second gear if I hammer it. I am running with relatively new all seasons. Is the wheel spin happening because the temperature has dropped and the tire compound is less sticky or is this what 430HP feels like? I have never had a car with this much power and torque.

Living in W Van. near the water I am driving my new C7 - decided to do so this year - use to put away for 4 months. I notice the same thing with temp at 11"C and rain: barely need to accelerate to have the rear wheels spin a bit. Plan on driving unless: temp. gets too low and they start sanding and putting salt down. Just need to be mindful of all that power under the hood. Enjoy while you can.
