DCT transmission Fluid and filter replacement

Ok you got me on that one. Talk about confusing ? I understand both measurements like most Canadians but it must be confusing to be an American trying to figure that one out . Anyway my original quote called for ten bottles but the final count from the mechanic was 12 bottles of fluid which appears to be a track fill . Maximus74 also recorded " In total 10 liter of oil was put in the transmission.."

The track fill requires a couple of hours of extra work to access the top fill port on the transmission. Did you ask the dealer to do that? If not, it's highly unlikely they really added 12 quarts (or liters) of DCT fluid. You may have gotten ripped off.

(Yes, I know you can raise one side of the car to add extra fluid through the side fill port, but that's not a GM approved procedure and not something a dealer is likely to do. Especially not if the owner didn't ask for the track fill.)

Basically the mechanic will fill in with fluid until it reached the fill plug hole level. At this point any extra oil you add will come out by the fill plug. This is also the reason why to add the extra 2 liters for track use, you need to fill in by another plug on top of the transmission which is a pain to reach.

Actually to me this seemed like an extended amount of time to service ? I arrived at 8 or 9am and the car was not ready till later in the afternoon . This was not 3 or 4 hours and done thing. Oil change , air filter, the transmission service and a full once over with fluid top ups. Trust me no stone was left unturned from this place. They would have looked under every rock and bled me dry if they could. I was quoted 10 bottles of transmission fluid but 12 were required . I was billed for the extra fluid. I turned down the purchase of new tyres there and had them put on later that evening at America’s Tire.

Just had the first DCT service on my 23 ( in service early Oct 22 ) so within first 2 years of ownership. Took 3.75 hrs. That I understand is what GM allows for this. This service was free. 2 oil changes free too but done previously. Those algorithms place alot of emphasis on time. Only 10k on odo.
Asked about extra litres of oil, the tech said it would take an additional 1.5 hrs. Per @Maximus it is difficult to reach that fill plug. So I passed.

It's almost entirely based on time. No way synth oil isn't good for 2 years or 40,000 klicks. Entirely a money grab deal with Mobil and GM
