Hi All,

I see a bunch of ZR1's within Alberta/BC with Davenport tuning/package specifically their 800hp package. Almost all these cars have barely any kms on them. So I have a few questions:

(1) How reliable are these tunes/mods? Does anyone have any experience with it?

(2) Are the number of kms low on these cars because of the rarity and owners seldomly driving them or due to the mods the cars are not reliable enough to drive often?

(3) If I purchase a ZR1 with an 800hp Davenport tune/package and bring it to Ontario, will I need to find a specialized shop (familiar with Davenport mods) to work on the car in case of any issues?

Thank you all :)

I have found Davenport very approachable in regard to questions like this. I was rather impressed with the facility
and how they worked with our "late" friend Velocity Yellow Rules when he had his Corvette in for some work a year ago.
I was a very briefly a liaison between Davenport and Garry while he was here for some medical testing and misc and they
accepted/appreciated my dropping by (unannounced) to get updates for him.
At that time I also took advantage and hinted about the fact I bought a 5.3l Sierra in 2015 as a 6.2l was impossible to find.
Was told to bring it in with a budget and they will guarantee my 5.3l will satisfy my 6.2l desires.
Davenport's ZR1 arrived at that time as well without any Dealership PDI ... Davenport purchased and wanted to run tests on a New ZR1
as it comes right off the assembly line and without a single Dealership tweak. So I believe they likely took extensive notes on that.
They then performed their own "voodoo" and two weeks later it was proudly being displayed at a few Show & Shines.
In regard to reliability, it does appear that they take it very seriously as something that their Business depends upon ...
I may say rather lightly that working between two Companies at different elevations may have it's struggles
as testing and results may have differences - as we discovered this with our friend's Corvette last year
(as he originally bought it in Ontario and had mods done there prior to bringing it to Alberta).
Davenport is an awesome facility to visit ... with warning - there's dangerous eye candy there.

@Jeremiad may be best to add better "motorworks" remarks to this thread than I can

Davenport has a good reputation. I know several owners who have had their cars modded there. It really depends on what work was one Karam as to the dependability. A larger SC/exhaust/CAI/tune.... are not extremely invasive... Opening the engine and modding a bunch of internals can be another matter...
If you know exactly what's been done to the car, I'm sure Dave at @RaceReadyGarageInc can comment on reliability to some extent, and can no doubt also work on the car for you. JMO

I really can't add much to this conversation as most everything has been said. Davenport has to be one of the best shops out there. Staff are great, their tuner is amazing. I had my work done about 2 years ago. So far I've put on about 15,000 km and it's still running flawlessly. I don't race it but I do have a heavy foot so the super charger always gets a good work out. I wouldn't hesitate using them again. Next in line is my truck..

I had a ZR1 with their 800HP package. Car was a beast but after owning a car with that much boost I learned a few things. The biggest being that much boost produces lots of heat. They didn’t really do anything to address that. I pulled my supercharger lid off to look at my intercoolers (as per advice I read online) and sure enough the fins on them were melted and they were falling apart....into the engine. I ordered some modded ones out of the states and installed them and sold the car shortly after. Not that they did anything wrong, but I wish with their experience they would have addressed the heat issue. Search the Internet and you will see what I mean.

I've not heard anything bad about davenport over the years. Given the size of the operation that's a pretty good feat. I do believe they occasionally frequent here, Steve where are you (@octaneman)? You're getting free publicity here :)
