Daily Winter Driving a C8?

Good afternoon, I am curious about people's experiences using a C8 as a daily driver in the winter, specifically in the greater Toronto area. Will all seasons be ok?

For context, I have driven a Camaro since 2009 (manual v6, rear wheel drive) and for the past 3 or 4 years have only used all seasons and have not had any problems even on the worst days, so long as I drive passively. My drive is short (less than 7 km city driving).

If all seasons won't work, are there any great winter tires out there for this car?

Thank you,
Justin

Welcome to the forum!
No, I'd get snows for sure.
We don't drive ours in the snow, but I have been caught in it and it wasn't fun. I'm in Uxbridge and not the banana belt (AKA Windsor). We drive it when the roads are clear and the A/S are fine for that.

I am on my 3rd C8 stingray and this one is an ERay-on all three I have driven them all winter-albeit with 2nd set of wheels with Michelin Alpin winter tires once temperatures drop - I am north of Barrie so in the snow belt but have the luxury of just staying home on the really crappy days - I can only remember a very few days over the last 5 years that I was not comfortable venturing out-mid engine c8 with more weight on rear wheels is great in the snow with careful winter oriented driving-ERay is even better! Definitely winter tires(Michelin) are strongly suggested. Yes oem sized tires even available for ERay.
Just remember it is winter and drive accordingly!!!

Had a friend who drove his C8 all winter. However, he said that the Michelin AS tires that are OEM on the Stingray were not very good in the snow. Great in just cold weather or wet weather but should not be considered a snow tire. He eventually switched to a Michelin Alpin which he said was great and the car drove fine until the snow got so deep that it was pushing snow. He said the C8 was a better winter car than his C7.

Live in Kitchener-Waterloo and C8 is my daily driver. Agree. Don't recommend winter driving on all seasons, although I've heard good things about the PIlot Sport A/S 4s. Driving on Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s in stock size. Not as confident with the PA4s as I was on previous generation Pilot Alpins (on Porsche Cayman S and Boxster). No major issues but use Weather Mode and I drive according to conditions. Slushy, icy and cold, wet roads are not a big issue but deeper snow is. Best if you have backup for those rare but really awful days where you might get stuck at the end of the driveway. For the first time this winter, I deferred to my wife's Volvo yesterday, lol, but out again this morning. (If I had known how much I would love the car and, as a result, would decide to winter drive it, I would have definitely gotten an E-Ray with Front Nose Lift. But this works.)

Thank you for your feedback. I drove my Camaro v6 with winters for the first 12 or 13 seasons and then only had all seasons for the past 3 or 4 seasons, and I never really had an issue, so long as I drove passively. I will be bringing home the C8 sometime this week on all seasons and then figure it out soon.

This hurts my ❤️ seeing any beautiful sport cars with road salt stain.
I got to go for therapy. It is all JR'S fault just can't get that imag out of my head. Lol..
I love digging at open wounds. ;)

What do people do about snow collecting on the rearview mirror camera when parked outside?? I've started to clear it before I start driving but blowing snow often starts to build up around it obscuring rearview. Is there some sort of cover available to install over it to prevent snow/ice accumulation? Thanks.

Use the physical mirror. I rarely use the mirror camera. I know it doesn't answer your question, but the rear window has a defogger and the side mirrors are heated. Properly aligned side mirrors remove virtually all blind spots. That at least should be a workaround for your issue.
