That's a ridiculous statement. I've been a skier for over 50 years in the Banff/Lake Louise area. Ski patroller in the past for a number of years also. No credibility to that statement.
As to the OP original questions, there are many great hotels in the Banff/Lake Louise area for all sorts of budgets and amenities. The Banff Springs, Rimrock, and Lake Louise Lodge are the great historical luxurious types. There are many others including motels. Come on out and enjoy as millions have from all over the world.
