Just wondering what others across the country have done when purchasing their corvette or any car for that matter that wasn't in same province/country? Are you driving/flying to where it is to drive it back? are you meeting up with the owner? having it shipped via train or truck?

Just seeing what options exist. Looking at grabbing another car and with it being Winter, wondering what are the ways I can get it here

Color? color matters with regards to transportation?

And I'm located in Manitoba, and starting location can be anywhere across Canada or the US. Not asking specifics as I haven't purchased the car yet, just curious what others have done when buying from out of province/from the US

yes if the truck driver gets stopped more than twice a day to chat about the car there is a delivery penalty

and most of us just want to know the colour of the car

just pulling your pant leg a bit

there is a nice lady out of Calgary that might be ok if you buy the car from that area

and a lot of us know the great cars and the cars that have been trashed in the local areas

some even can play mechanic and auto body repairman to inspect a car without you having to travel at the start of the journey

we can be helpful and welcome

I’ve shipped a car from the Toronto area to Thunder Bay (1400 Kms) with Hansen’s and I’ve also flown down to pick up and drive my new C8 (in October not winter). Much prefer the driving myself- beautiful scenery most of the way. But also would recommend Hansen’s if looking for a company.

I used TFX to ship my C7 from Calgary to Toronto area. That was a brand new car, so I didn't really need to see it (although the most friendly forum member here did take a look at it for me). Used stuff is a bit harder to buy from afar, in my opinion. That said, my previous C6 was bought privately cross border, deal was done pending a physical inspection.

I thought there was a serious point to your point for a second lol

Color wise I'm looking at getting either white or black

I'm looking at adding a C7Z to the garage; spoke with a local corvette specialist to aid me in my search, and aside him I'm looking predominantly in the prairies (AB, SK ) and then Ontario. Bypassing the states at the present because of the number of hoops to jump through with the border and covid currently making it worse.

If I end up finding a local guy then the transaction will be easy, if having to bring it from another province I like the prospect of a road trip; so flying somewhere and driving home wouldn't be the worst thing and my secondary choice is having it trucked to my place. If I find something in ONT I will have my father inlaw inspect it for me and store it for me until I can go get it.

I'm a little ahead for the search as most these cars won't be coming out of hibernation for a few months still but wanted to make sure I have details sorted out in my mind ahead of time.

That would be ideal if outside of Covid, hopefully things open up come the spring.

I will assume you have a stick? lol I'm open to both, I'd rather the manual but with the wife the A8 is more than likely the direction I'll go. I'lll shoot you a PM.

Got the call my car was in town. I had to go to "Transport Car Fre" yard (Almost Sherwood Park) at 8:30 last night to pick it up. Little disappointed that they didn't deliver it to my storage warehouse as previously arranged. Good thing I bought plates
They gave me the car no paper work no Inspection didn't ask me for I.D. Didn't even have to sign for it. Seemed a little loose. However I got the car and drove to my warehouse. Other than that they got car from point A to point B in a timely manner. Would I use them again ?????????

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you...not sure that would work to well for me here in MB, there is zero chance I'd drive my car from Wpg to my place in this weather. That would not be a situation I would want to deal with.

We have purchased 3 US cars and drove them home, 2 from Dallas/Fort Worth and 1 from Reno .... 2 went perfectly .... first one, we drove down and spent a few days there then drove both back, next one we flew in and they picked us up at the airport, did the transaction and then they took us out for dinner, drove it home, the last flew in and the met us at the airport, gave us the car and left, the first 2 were Trans Ams, the last was the 78 pace Vette .... and it bit us in the ass .... big time!!! Engine gave up half way home ... it’s a gamble .... but no better way to see the country and get to know your new purchase!! Yes I would do it again!!!
Heres the story on my Vette trip ..... The Beast .....
