Some have problems with this and some never do. Like anything else, you don't need it until you need it. If it gives you peace of mind, install it.

In my case, I didn't have any issues on my '05 up until last year when it really started acting up and the car would not start on a few occasions. Over the winter, I've ordered the bypass module and it's getting installed as soon as it comes out of storage.

I had a 2006 C6 with ~142,000 km when I sold it. I never had a problem with the column.

GM dealers can remove the column lock from the 2005 Manual vehicles. Why would anyone bother with a bypass that can also fail?
