And were still buying the same gas that was in storage tanks when the attack on Iran started and gas was $1.20 a liter and oil was $70 a barrel.
This is nothing more than price gouging by the oil companies and the government does not enforce illegal price setting as they benefit almost as much as the oil companies do. My brother in law is a chemical engineer who travels all over the world with Exxon Mobil, so I also have sources inside the oil companies. He was based in Saudi Arabia for 9 years and Canada has increased production to 5.3 million barrels a day to reduce the amount of oil imported for the eastern provinces from Saudi. Last year oil imports from Saudi were less that 10%. This year it could be zero if we stop sending as much oil to the US as we currently do and keep it for ourselves, as we can be totally self sufficient. None of our oil comes from Iran! The 20 Million Barrels of oil that goes through the Strait of Hormuz each day goes to India, China, Japan, Pakistan, Germany and France in that order. Canada is ZERO!

Crude Oil Origins
Most Canadian crude oil comes from Alberta's oil sands (over 60% of production), with additional output from Saskatchewan heavy oil fields and conventional light oil in Western Canada. Canada exports the majority to the U.S. but imports about 490,000 barrels per day into Eastern Canada (e.g., Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic provinces) from the U.S. (72%), Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia to supply local refineries.
