Long and boring thought process train ahead be warned :)

I've started the long and somewhat arduous task of simplification (otherwise known as Nik cleaning up his feature bloat drive).

We have way too many options and menus, and features hidden behind multiple levels of menus so I'm looking to slowly refactor these before adding new features and significant theme changes.

What will be happening over the next little while is that certain menu items (navigation menu stuff) will be moved to different places that I hope will be easier to find and access, and be grouped more logically.

The new navigation menu structure will comprise of the following Main and Sublevel items:

1. Blog - will be renamed to Articles and moved under Forums
2. Forums (homepage) - will leave as is. Some sublevel items will be moved and others hidden.
3. What's New - currently most popular one, will be repointed to new All Threads view which gives you some quick and easy filtering of all the new content (which the current view is a little limited on)
4. My Stuff (new) - this will be a collection of shortcuts to various views primarily around YOUR contributions. It'll point to your threads (that you started), your post contributions, your watched threads, your events (that you created), your media and watched items, your awards, your showcase items (our virtual garage and pseudo wiki page), your members you're following
5. Media remains but with fewer sublevel items
6. Events remains but with fewer sublevel items
7. Donate remains
8. Toolbox remains but with fewer sublevel items
9. VetteCoin store - has already been moved to our new shopping cart layout next to My Account
10. Members - will remain but with added items (such as Chat)

Ultimately I'd like to collapse even more menus and bring it down to 4-5 at most from the current 8.

I already know that a majority of members realize the work that goes into maintaining and improving a forum of this magnitude and complexity. Especially the members that have been with us for many, many years and have seen the forward strides the forum has taken. The credit for your forum belongs two fold... To Riley who originally started the forum way back in 2009 and to Nik, the technological wizard who turned this forum into what it has become. I'm hoping the newer members have noticed that there are some big differences here from what you may have experienced in forums elsewhere. A couple of the most important things are the attitude here. Our members are by far the friendliest and the most willing to share their wealth of knowledge to anyone. You, the members are a huge part of what makes this forum what it is. We make every effort to keep this forum as inviting and informational as it is as well. Combatant and challenging remarks and insults (trolling) is seldom experienced and is not tolerated, and you may have noticed there are no irritating pop-ups or advertising banners every time you navigate here. No one has tried to sell you viagra, authentic passports to a country of your choice, or totally legitimate diplomas in neurosurgery either. We have no idea how Nik does it but spam is basically torched as soon as it tries to pry it's way in here, and the few BMW drivers, from deep in the heart of Africa that slip by our defenses, are subject to our larger than life moderator Nuke buttons... And just an FYI, the work and costs for bandwidth, hosting, etc. are also a big thanks mainly to Nik, our sponsor donors, and the always helpful and much appreciated donations the forum receives from you, the members that enjoy what they have found here and help make the forum what it is today by supporting it.
That got a little sucky but it was due and I'm just sayin' ....... a big Thanks to the members and to Nik for his continuous work and dedication to the best Corvette forum out there.....

I think someone's looking for a pay raise next year ;) Thanks a lot Eric. Means a lot and it wouldn't be what it is without the members and mods.

I've also made some changes to the menus already so looking for feedback on the new My CCF folder that will house any and all items (threads, posts, events, carts, showcase/wiki items, awards etc). Still work in progress. I'd like to eventually collapse and remove the Members menu as it's seldom used as well as the Toolbox goodies.
