C8 transmission filter service

It’s actually $300 / hour .. they just do the service in 14 minutes …

Us east coasters are efficient 🙃
More efficient than your emoji, lol . Here at the local GM dealership it’s actually only $195.00 per . Makes me think that I was in the wrong business. Almost…..I do have a Vette lol .

They pull your car into the bay . Oh wait, I better wash my hands before working on this expensive car. OK , better get a coffee , this could take a while. Drank half the coffee , must visit the can . Come back and talk to the mechanic in the adjacent bay about last night’s game . OK time to open the engine hood. Woops better connect it and run a diagnostic……………….that’s what I thought. It needs an oil change. Up on the hoist hopefully not dropping it. Darn , it’s coffee break. Come back and realize that we are out of the required filter. Send the parts guy to the local Wallmart . Ad Infinitum…..Enough to make you buy a hoist if you have the space and means, lol .

This sums it up perfectly !!!

Reality is now setting in to all corvette owners reading ….

Here is how it actually went down today, which is supported by these comments.

Dropped car off at 9:30am. Nephew picks me up so I could buy him breakfast … we do that. 11:00am back at dealership only to discover they haven’t figured out how to use my shiny new maintenance plan to cover the DCT service …. So haven’t started as they didn’t want me to be faced with a bill of $700+ if it was wasn’t covered …. Ok , noble I guess. I said just get going and we will work that part out.

I called Don Le, he offered me some great therapy and I shared that with dealer. After their GM warranty rep got back to them , all good, all covered … now they can start. (11:30am)

Unsure what happens during the next 3.5 hours exactly other than me pacing the halls of the dealership, while being updated that he is almost finished … I know every car they have in stock if anyone’s looking , lol

At 2:00pm , all done , all good. I’m free to go home ! Signed paperwork, no $ required (Thanks Don!)

They were super courteous and good to deal with. Just tried my patience a few times is all.

FYI for all, they did then tell me that DCT filters and Oil are on back order by GM Canada with 2-4 week lead time. If you need service done, get it booked and ensure they have the parts to do it

Yes , in a lot of cases they have had to be because of economic reasons. . But you will go a long ways to find more resourceful , genuine , and caring people . :D

Update; Murray provided (thanks Murray), a couple of documents early in this thread to support GM covering the 1 st canister filter replacement, which I took to the local dealer. I also emailed GM Canada Service, who contacted the dealer. Between them, they eventually decided that the canister filter would be replaced under warranty, and notified me on May 5 that I would be reimbursed for the cost.
Just today, they finally signed a cheque for the original $1052. Which I promptly deposited with my cellphone.

I dropped my '23 C8 off at the dealers today for my 2nd free oil change, and the GM letter said to have the tranny filter serviced also, before 12,000 km. (I'm at 11,400)
I see some posts saying it's complimentary, others quoting 700-900 CAD. Dealer told me 950 plus tax. What's the distinction between free/900?
Hi, I just had it done this morning...no charge....

Please don't forget to donate to this forum and the Concierge who provided the documentation originally that just saved you $1052 because we have the platform and resources/knowledge that apparently your dealer didn't!!

Can someone provide me with the copy of the bulletin that extended the complimentary DCT filter replacement on 2023 Corvettes to 3 years 12000 kms from the original 2 years 12000 kms? I am going in for the service in 2 days and don't want to pay if its covered.

Not sure if this is it . No time to read it, about to board an aircraft.
