I read this but as nice as the c8 is how can it be car of the year when it hasn't left the production line. I'd vote in a year once folks start driving them .....

Well if we read the rules of the award:
"To be eligible for the awards, a vehicle has to be either new or substantially changed from a previous model, and it also needs to be on sale by the end of the year. It also has to be a volume seller, thus ruling out many niche products like those from exotic brands."

Mmmmm, it seems that the Corvette checks all the categories for this award and they had one to drive during all the testing. I vote GM accepts the award and celebrate! It's just a very cool car.
