C8: Do You Need the Z51 PKg.??

I ordered my car with Z51 because to me it was a $4500 decision, Z51 package is $5900 without MRC then if you minus the NPP exhaust for $1400 that many order anyway I don't think it's much money. Yes I will track my car but some C8 owners paid $5000 for a custom VIN your decision.
You are correct Gilles. Z51 is a $5900 option. In my numbers above I added FE4 to my figure based on what I've read that a Z51 FE4 is is strongly recommended with Z51 because of a harsher, stiffer rides on the streets.
So, did you decide to stick with your C8 order? You were thinking about dropping it for a C7 Z06?

Really? 5K for a custom VIN? Wow that's money down the crapper if the car is sold or traded.

I needed to wait it out till I had a firm answer about my C8 TPW ( if there is such a thing ) so I have a mid June drop date for a decision on a C7 Z06 as GM will open the Workbench for 2021 on May 21st for a better understanding of pricing and 2020 production
 
I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the "Custom VIN" 5K premium was also code for move to front of the line. I have read and heard from more than one Youtuber that they paid the 5K extra which is what got them early delivery. If not mistaken, I am sure Chevy Dude made that statement too. So if it was important to you to be first on the street with one, then 5K may have been a worthwhile option. Who could have anticipated the double plant shutdown when they placed their own order? Not I for sure. In hind sight, maybe the 5K was not such a bad move. I am sure those that have the cars on YouTube have more than made back that expense in content value on their respective channels. The gears will be starting to move soon and then back to full swing. Patience is a virtue. I would rather have put that 5K in options in the car. haha.

Most who did that didn't even get custom VIN's they just asked for the lowest numbered Vin available!
 
Personal preferences/choices and the bank account usually dictate the type of options you choose for your car. If you want to track your car, then order the options that will support your habit. If you find it important to get all the options, then get them. My 2016 was a base model with NPP, Chrome wheels and 2LT and a few other options and it cruised beside all the other cars like they were brothers. Did the 10,000kms to Bowling Green and no issues. My Grand Sport has all the options, but I have no intent to track the car.
Anything you choose is what makes you happy. Its the "Miles of Smiles" that really count.
There is a reason they make so many options. Enjoy it.
 
You don't need to get Z51 to get 2LT or Front End Lift. I got those with no Z51. You need Z51 to get Mag Ride. On the 2021 you won't need Z51 for Mag Ride.
I get it, I could have taken a deeper dive perhaps to get a better cost/benefit but at the end of the day I am happy with my options as chosen. I certainly would have liked to spend less on it (don't we all) but I feel this car already is an incredible buy for us Canadians. Given the prices were pegged when we had a stronger dollar, the deal just gets better and better. So I have a 90K near super car. How can you beat that. Our American cousins are actually paying more for this car than we are. So it's all good!
 
I am back to wanting the Z51 package..Do not intend to track it but its simple math for me as I had Wanted the black/carbon high wing spoiler, sport exhaust and likely painted calipers. With the carbon painted mirrors comes matching Z51 rear spoiler, so add Z51 calipers, front splitter and sport exhaust and this pays for half of the Z51 so might as well just do it.

Agree get what you want and have no regrets later. It's your cash and only your happiness matters.
 
I think the shorter transmission gears is probably the most practical performance benefit you might notice on the street, though the car is still going to be pretty fast and fast and smooth shifting with the base gears. You get the cosmetic benefits of the painted calipers and carbon fibre pieces you want like you said, but now get that in a performance balanced package of other parts, so seems like a win win with the price works.
