Yes, I realize that; but, I was hoping to keep my cost below $100K: only money - no good til you spend it - LOLNot terribly surprising. The rag top C7 was a $5,000 CAD option and a flat-folding soft top is a lot simpler and less expensive to engineer and manufacture than a tight-folding hard top!

Actually, considering it's a power retractable hard top and the complexity that goes with that, that's not a bad price jump for the feature you're getting.The price of the convertible C8 looks like it will be $7500 US extra. I expect that will equate to about $9000 CAN.
Still good man: heat up the seats and turn heater on - not a problem. Enjoy the ride!!It is getting cold, but I've still got the top off! Highs of 11 to 17C and lows of 1 to 10C over the next week.

I guess we can't call the convertible a ragtop any more ... hardtop from now on. The videos of the folding top are readily available on line now. Looks like it is in 2 sections, the roof and the rear engine cover. The roof sections folds flat on top of the engine area and the engine cover folds on top of roof section. Very neat and well thought out.
Tech has come a long way in 10 years. The C7 vert has about as many relays and have heard no complains or problems.. Here's hoping...Pontiac (RIP) had a simalar type hard folding roof on the G6 model about 10 years ago. Had an Aunt with one and it was a nightmare. Actually lots of people had problems with this system. Constantly in the shop for repairs. Thing rarely worked right. Not saying the Vette will be a similar scenario or I don’t like the concept but might be another 1st year bug thingy.

No bad.. You are just stating what you know from your experience. That is 100% acceptable..Never took it as a negative comment just a concern..Oh I hadn’t realized you have compared the tech specs so closely. I should have done more research before posting.

definitely not not my intention being negative over the C8 vert. I am for the first time actually considering one as the profile of the car is almost the same and I don’t have to handle the roof or lose storage.
only 2 drawbacks for me about this car. Loss or engine window and the lack of manual transmission... but that’s another subject.
Different lines in the rear of the car behind the driver and the passenger.... The CELLS as they are calling them create new lines which can be carbon flash painted and with roof and a posts the same colour it is in my opinion pretty cool looking.Oh I hadn’t realized you have compared the tech specs so closely.
