C8 Battery Tender Question

I know a bunch of people have transitioned to 12V Lithium, but I am not there yet.

I put a lithium battery on my bike early last season, and I am convinced there was a voltage drop or something that bricked my ECU.

The benefits sounded good: lighter, smaller, stronger CCA. But after 5 years of problem free ownership, I changed the battery over to a new Shorai, and 2 rides in, my ECU threw 2 injector codes that could not be fixed.

For now if I upgrade batteries in my car, I'll stick to Optima.

When I was drag racing my Camaro, I installed a Braille battery that was half the weight of the regular battery and had more CCAs. That battery lasted me almost 10 years before it began giving me trouble. I even had it for a couple of years in my Corvette.

I've heard positive things about Braille... but $1000USD for a battery didn't outweigh the benefits over a Red Top in the trunk! What did you run in your Camaro? My '73 had a 427 big block to a 4L80 and a 100 shot. Was dialed in nicely for 11, until I tore it apart and made it into a street car.

The Braille battery I had was in the $400.00 range (can't remember which one it was now). Ran the somewhat stock LT1 with the 4L60 that had been rebuilt. SLP intake and 3" exhaust through a Magnaflow. A couple of hours of dyno tuning made a world of difference. Rear end was upgraded to 3.73s, suspension was changed to Global West with Eibach springs. I moved the inertia point slightly to help with launches by changing my angle on the rear trailing arms. I could spin tires through the first two gears if I wasn't careful when I sold the car. That car was soooo much fun to drive around town but was not anywhere near a highway cruiser. When you stomped the go fast pedal, you had to hold the steering wheel with two hands and wait hours for the grin to ease.

Not to hijack the thread, but that's what makes the C8 so much fun to drive. Almost no wheel spin on launch. My friends 2018 Camaro ZL1 just can't get the power to the ground.

I had a similar thought about driving characteristics of the C8. It's quick...really quick....and civilized. But sometimes I don't want that. Sometimes I want to jump in my 6 speed that is 100% analog with no driving aids, and just drive like a savage! There's something about making a left turn at the lights, giving it a little extra gas, letting the clutch out fast, and goosing the rear end around the turn!

In my opinion, the C6 Z06 was an excellent blend of refinement and savagery. Man, I should have never sold that car.

I hear ya. I had a 2000 M6 Camaro SS with every suspension mod and a heads and cam package giving me 485HP and it was fun, but it couldn't corner like the C8 so I'm having a totally different experience with the C8.

For a 1995 car, that old Camaro could keep up with most anything on the road back then. It cornered like it was on rails if you were a good driver with the nerves to do it. Paying attention to the throttle instead of mashing it and it could snap your head back hard. But you knew you were going fast. Corvettes, a far, far different kind of car that is way easier to accelerate and drive quickly. You almost don't even have to pay attention to how you are driving which can be dangerous.

I have a brand new C8 CTEK battery maintainer for sale if anyone is interested PM me.
