Hi everyone,
I have 1998 C5, owned it for a few months and it does not have any major problems. Just a VSS Sensor that i am going to fix. Today i tried to drive the car, it turned on normally and idles good. But when I start to disengage the clutch it starts to crawl forward and as soon as I hit around 1-2m of moving at ~1.5mph it just fully stalls, once i put it into neautral and clutch in the car turns on fine. But again it stalls after the clutch is almost fully disengaged. Ive tried do it with the revs higher and almost clutch dumping but still it turns off.

Anyone know what can be the problem? It has a newer battery. And i drove it last night with no problems at all.

Change out the VSS sensor first as it may be sending random signals to the ECM. If that doesn't cure it, my next look would be a steering column electrical problem. A weak battery may also trigger this but since you advise it has a newer battery this is likely not the problem. The car may shut off due to a column lock message, which cuts fuel at speeds over 2 mph. This is the most common C5 issue for what you are describing. Your DIC should relay you a message. When it stalls leave the key on for 10 seconds or more and check the DIC for a message. If you have access to someone with a code reader, it may also tell you more. A bypass module like the LMC5 from Compliance Parts can help resolve this issue. Some guys have also had this tuned out by changing the Fail Fuel Cut out VSS from 2 kph to say 250 kph. And welcome to our forum.

Let us know how you make out.

Thank you guys, i was going to buy the bypass online but no need too! I hopped in it tonight and tried to drive one more time and it worked no problem. I had a rough time starting as the battery was below 12-13v so I most likely will go to costco and swap batteries it seems like that might of been the error.
Thanks again

No worries. We aim to please... lol.. You might consider the bypass anyway as this is a common issue with the C5 and you don't want it to freeze up on you someday on a road trip in a remote location....
Pretty ride by the way. Always liked red... I had a C6 victory red which was pretty close to the torch red.
