The more I think about this video the more interesting it is to me. The Trans Am era was really unique in motorsport history, Can Am to some degree as well. There was a huge cross over of drivers in that era, many came from stock cars, indy car and indeed true road racers to race in that series. Now a days cross over seldom happens, maybe endurance racing might be exception where a "guest" driver joins a team.
Incredible battles on the tracks, lots of money invested in the series and prestige to those who won. Indeed it was a great time to watch drivers of all stripes battle it out.
