Bringing your C8 home from dealer

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions for those of us driving our C8 a long distance home?
I have to drive 120 KM to get home before I can take it in for PPF.
They are paved secondary roads but stones can be anywhere along the way.
Second issue, should we be installing Frunk chain in dealers lot? Would that be too insulting?
Drive down the street and do in a mall parking lot?
Or, just hope for the best?

Xpel Track wrap. Wrap it like crap, who cares and then get 'er done locally. I'm not going to bother but my 120Km's is all highway

Good idea! That would buy a lot of painters tape!!!

I think you're right we are a little over the edge, this 12 month waiting time causes one to lose it!!
I'm 70 and just hoping to live long enough to get this damn car!!

You don't have to do it every time. The blue 3M painters tape is pretty good quality. It will likely stay on for at least 3 washes...

Get yourself a plastic shopping bag ( or something that tape can stick to) and cut to shape of vents slightly oversize as best you can. Attach painters tape around cutout you made and attach to vent . The `wrap` will crinkle nicely as you carefully apply it with minimal amount of tape covering the paint.
Easy to do for us HTC guys.

I have some Temporary Protective Film around 6" to 10" wide that is White in color, it's primary function is to protect the Finish on Stainless Steel or other Finished Metal.
I use it to protect my Car when doing any mechanical work etc
It is easy to apply and remove but will add a layer of protection to you car until you get home.

Not sure how much you need but I could give you about 100 Feet at no cost.
I am in the Toronto area and am currently away for a week, if you can wait until next week please PM me if you would like to pick it up.

It's scary stuff, that's what it is. I pick up my car in a week or two and don't want to worry about this stuff on the drive home.

After 3 days of reading, a case of beer, and a few changes of underwear I'm finally caught up on this issue from the "other forum".

Your car will very likely have a factory piece of PPF on it in front of the rear wheels. I would not worry for a second and enjoy your drive home. The paint is tough and not being over metal, is quite resistant to nicks and ticks. And even those can usually be buffed out as they mostly don't make it through the clear coat.
