1954 Chevy Corvette Prototype

Before the Chevy Corvette had been approved to become a full production car for the 1953 model year, it appeared as a GM Motorama show car. Fifteen fiberglass bodies were laid by hand. These single-piece bodies came with internal GM codes indicating their use. The first-ever prototype shown at the New York Waldorf Astoria in January 1953 carried the code EX-52. Others had placards with Shop Orders, or S.O. numbers, indicating that they were 1954 Motorama cars. Most of the show cars didn’t survive intact, but were used, either in part or in whole, for other projects, while others were disassembled or destroyed.

Just started watching C1 and C2 posts but will have to find the C3 section. Joan, my better half, just got a nice 1968 slightly modified roadster. Just needs some TLC over the winter after an older frame off restoration. Now shares spot in our garage with my 2017 Grand Sport.

Nice! Can't beat owning a 2017 GS IMHO - awesome car. How about a pic?

I did the black out as well on 2016 C7 vert. It looked awesome. I know where u r as I covered Windsor for Petrofina back in the day.

The image features a rare 1954 Chevrolet Corvette with a "bubbletop" hardtop. This distinctive plexiglass top was a very limited production option, with only about 15 units reportedly made.

Without AC, which was not available in 54 vettes, it wouldn't take much to overheat the interior. Other than that it does look neat and shows the technology was available to mould complex shapes.
